About The Cottage Bed and Breakfast

Awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence two years in a row, The Cottage Bed & Breakfast in peaceful Sutton Poyntz sits just 2 miles east of Weymouth, perfect for Dorset coast and country touring.  The beach and Jurassic Coast are only 1 mile away.  The property is a charming 18th century stone house set within lovely gardens and a spacious outdoor deck.  Period charm is combined with modern essentials including free WiFi internet access.

Guest Rooms

The Cottage has three luxury bedrooms to choose from with uninterrupted views across to the Dorset Hills and the recently renovated great Georgian White Horse Carving.  We have a spacious deluxe double en-suite, 1 superior family/ double/ twin room with a large en-suite bathroom and a light and cosy double room. 

All rooms are beautifully furnished in their own unique style.  Facilities include quality mattresses, luxury Egyptian cotton linen, wall-mounted TVs with Freeview and a DVD player, hair dryers, tea and coffee making facilities including organic fresh milk, bathrobes and slippers

The Blue Room - a bright and modern double aspect room to the rear of the B&B with feature exposed stonework and large wooden beams.  The bed has an antique pine headboard and an orthopaedic mattress.  Furnishings include an antique chest of drawers and two comfortable chairs.  This room is warm and cosy with double glazed cottage windows affording views of surrounding hills and the gardens.  The en-suite has a heated towel rail and power shower.

The Cottage Room - our second superior room located in the oldest part of the property with black beams, a sloping ceiling and thick walls.  Enjoy garden views from the pretty window seat.  The room has two other windows making it nice and bright, as well as a wall-mounted TV and a safe.  A luxury bathroom includes a Georgian window, cushion bathroom flooring and a large chrome heated towel rail.  This bathroom is available privately with The Cottage Room or can be shared with The Green Room if guests are staying with family or friends.

The Green Room - a beautiful light and modern room with a classic Georgian style window allowing in the sun all day.  This room has stunning views of the garden, surrounding hills, the Jordan River Valley and the White Horse Carving.

Conservatory/ Breakfast Menu

An extensive breakfast menu is inclusive in booking, served in our beautiful Victorian Conservatory.  Breakfast choice, cooked fresh to order, includes Full English cooked breakfast, scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit salad.

Only the finest organic/free range produce is used for our breakfast, served fresh and to order.  Weather permitting, breakfast can be served outside on the outdoor deck with wonderful rural views.  Special diets including vegetarian and gluten free are happily catered for on request. 

Outside

Relax in beautiful gardens with views across to open fields where the Weymouth donkeys are kept overnight.  Our rural spot overlooking the Dorset Hills and White Horse carving is rich is wildlife - a birdwatchers paradise and lookout for our local deer!

Around and About

Walkers are well catered for as you can find immediate access to public footpaths from our doorstep. 

Three outstanding pubs are just a short walk from the B&B.  Our guests receive a free bottle of wine with their meal at the nearby Springhead pub. 

The Cottage is only 15 minutes from ferry services across to the Channel Islands.

A regular bus service runs from the end of our road into Weymouth.

Numerous attractions sit right on our doorstep from seaside attractions and the award-winning beach at Weymouth to Hardy Country around Dorchester and walking along the Jurassic Coast's South West Coast Path.

Directions

From Weymouth:  Follow the A353 out of Weymouth to the East (towards Poole) and as the road dips past the shop take Seven Acres Road to the left.  At the top of that road, just as it bends to the left, go right into Puddledock Lane, we’re the last house on the right before it becomes a dirt track!

Sat Nav Aid:- Lat 50.39.021N.  Long 2.25.274W

From Dorchester/East:  Please be aware that the A354 has been improved and we recommend you take this road.  Then take the Preston/Wareham turn off, joining the Littlemoor Road.  When you join the A353 heading east towards Wareham at a little roundabout follow the directions as above.

Please note, for those of you using a sat nav please input “via Seven Acres Road”.  This will take you through the appropriate end of Puddledock Lane and NOT the unmade section.  Do NOT use the postcode without the address as you will not be at the right end of Puddledock Lane.
