Firkin Cottage is a well-loved property praised for its excellent location near the harbour and its comfortable, spacious interiors. Guests appreciate the quiet setting, proximity to local attractions, and the thoughtful welcome hamper. While some maintenance issues are noted, the overall experience is positive, with many guests returning and planning future stays.
Most guests found Firkin Cottage clean and comfortable, though there were instances of cleanliness concerns such as dirty cutlery and dustbins not being emptied. These seem to be isolated incidents rather than the norm.
The location is highly praised for being close to the harbour, town, and sea, offering a quiet spot that is still within easy walking distance to local amenities and attractions.
The cottage is generally regarded as comfortable and spacious, with a cosy atmosphere. Some guests mentioned slippery stairs and low doorways, which could be a concern for those with mobility issues.
Facilities are well-received with a few maintenance issues noted, such as leaks and broken appliances. The property is equipped with a dishwasher and parking permit, adding convenience to guests' stays.
While guests have mentioned a welcome hamper, there is not enough information to determine if this is a consistent offering or a one-off occurrence. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed for future guests.
A beautiful, fully renovated cottage just a short walk from the Brewers Quay and Newton's Cove area of Weymouth.
Firkin Cottage is perfect for a tranquil holiday set slightly apart from the bustle of the main town while still very close to the Old Harbour and Hope Square.
The standard of finish inside this property is exceptional and attention to detail obvious. The beautiful enclosed cottage garden has a patio area complete with garden furniture, where you can enjoy the sun or eat alfresco at any time of the day.
Named after the traditional 72-pint barrel used at the now converted local Devenish Brewery, Firkin, is a popular cottage of our more discerning guests due to its modern presentation and favoured location.
The beautiful Isle of Portland, loved by water sports enthusiasts, is just a short drive away. Chesil beach visitor centre offers a glimpse to the area’s wildlife, you can walk up the shingle beach and enjoy observing the waves crashing dramatically to the shore. On the less than perfect days it is well worth the effort to visit.
A 20 minute drive further will take you to the wonderfully beautiful village of Abbotsbury where you will find Abbotsbury Swannery. This is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans.
Sheltered by Ridgeway hills this historic village inspired a few books of Dorset’s famous writer Thomas Hardy. From the town centre there are numerous places to visit within walking distance: St. Catherine’s Chapel, St. Nicholas Church, Chesil Beach, Sub-tropical gardens. If you feel energetic enough a walk to Abbotsbury Castle, the Iron Age hillfort, is a must of the stunning scenery around.
This wonderful house is the perfect place to stay with friends or have a family gathering and discover beautiful Dorset coast.
This thriving area called Brewers Quay is the old Victorian brewery situated right at the very heart of the harbour, in Weymouth, Dorset. Much of the grade II listed complex and surrounding brewery buildings date from the late 1800 early 1900’s and many have stones inlaid commemorating their construction year. Now a popular destination with many restaurant’s café and bars making it a vibrant location where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. Tucked in the harbourside streets here you will find original Tudor harbour buildings estimated to have built 1600 and well worth a visit, with a very interesting history to share. You will also find the Weymouth Museum, with some incredible facts and artefacts, there is more to this seaside town than meets the eye. The harbour is home to the lifting bridge where you can watch the luxury yachts head out to sea, and then walk over the bridge into the town with it’s winding streets of boutique shops and onto the seafront Esplanade and beach. Brewers Quay is a much loved location in Weymouth.

So close to all amenities and the sea. Very quiet as the lane is not accessible to traffic, which was a bonus. Lovely garden. Warm, cosy and comfortable

The only detail that was lacking was where to dispose of rubbish, there was a old style dust bin in the garden but there was no wheelie bin or nearby bin, clear location if where to dispose of rubbish is something I would suggest to be placed into the booklet.
