Driftwood is a charming and well-equipped cottage praised for its brilliant location close to the beach and town. Guests appreciate the clean, comfortable accommodation with modern kitchen facilities. While some guests noted issues with maintenance and noise, the majority found Driftwood to be a cosy and welcoming base for exploring Weymouth and Dorset.
Most guests found Driftwood to be spotlessly clean upon arrival, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. However, a few reviews mentioned areas where cleanliness could be improved, such as dust and a reported smell of damp in some instances.
The location is highly praised for being close to the beach and central Weymouth, with easy access to local amenities. Despite a few comments about the area being noisy or not ideal, the convenience of the location is a standout feature.
Guests generally found the beds comfortable and the cottage cosy, though some noted the property was on the small side and the bathroom layout was not ideal. The presence of steep stairs was mentioned as a potential issue for some.
While the kitchen and modern appliances were appreciated, there were mixed feelings about the maintenance of the property. Some guests reported issues with the TV and shower, and there were comments about the need for updates. Without a clear consensus, a precise score cannot be provided.
Many guests mentioned thoughtful touches such as welcome packs with tea, coffee, and sometimes wine and biscuits. While these gifts were well-received, it's important to note that such extras, while appreciated, are subject to availability and not guaranteed.
A Grade II listed cosy cottage tucked away in a small terrace, traditionally built in 1835, and full of character and charm. It is ideally situated, just a few moments' walk from Weymouth's golden sandy beach.
Featuring a compact kitchen which has all the items you need for preparing meals, you are then able to relax in the sitting room. The bathroom and master bedroom are situated on the first floor with the second twin bedroom on the second floor, accessed via a steep spiral staircase, this staircase may make the twin bedroom less suitable for children under the age of 3 or visitors with limited mobility.
A short walk to the lively level esplanade where you can enjoy sitting in the seafront cafes and bars. Guests with dogs, will find plenty of areas of Weymouth beach that welcome dogs all year round and there are many other dog friendly beaches locally. Or why not stroll by the Marina to Weymouth harbour and take a boat trip exploring the Jurassic coast. In the opposite direction you are moments away from the RSPB Radipole lake nature reserve and Swannery.
Further afield why not take a drive or the train and explore the historic market town of Dorchester.
Driftwood is great for a small family and makes an ideal base to explore Weymouth and beyond.
The ever popular resort of Weymouth makes an outstanding year-round holiday destination, with a wide variety of attractions on offer, appealing to all tastes and ages. The glorious golden sandy beach with its shallow waters provide excellent facilities for all kinds of watersports, whilst from the picturesque, bustling harbour you can take regular fishing trips. A short drive takes you to Portland Harbour, and the rugged “Isle” of Portland, linked to Weymouth by the dramatic Chesil Beach. Visit Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s “Casterbridge”, only 7 miles away, or take a journey along the scenic coastal road and call in at Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens.
