A well-equipped, comfortable, and cosy stone cottage. This welcoming holiday retreat is ideally suited for two people, and situated in a pretty valley on the edge of Upwey village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Attractive Garden Cottage is the perfect hideaway for couples looking to relax and enjoy a break in South Dorset. Within easy reach of Weymouth with its famous beach, Dorchester with its museums, cinemas, shops and restaurants, and the Jurassic Coast, the location is ideal.
On the ground floor there is a well-appointed sitting room, and a light filled dining conservatory with picturesque views across the valley. The kitchen is small in size but well equipped, and there is a ground floor wet room with shower and WC. Upstairs in the cosy eaves is the bedroom with a low-level double bed and en-suite cloakroom. If you prefer not to climb the steep stairs there is a comfortable double sofa bed downstairs as an alternative. The private terrace outside of the sitting and dining rooms is the perfect place for enjoying an al fresco meal whilst enjoying the wonderful valley views across to the village church.
There are excellent walks and cycle paths right from the door of the cottage, and the South Dorset Ridgeway Path runs across the ridge a mile above the cottage. Upwey Wishingwell Tea Rooms and Gardens is just a very short stroll from Garden Cottage, and at just five miles away, a walk around nearby Maiden Castle, one of Europe's largest Iron Age hillforts, is not to be missed. Blue Flag Awarded Weymouth Beach and its large bay are certainly worth a visit, and the place to enjoy a tasty fish and chip supper in one of the seafront or harbourside restaurants.

What an amazing cottage in a beautiful location. Perfect in every way especially the views and so relaxing too. Weymouth and Dorchester only short drives away along with so many other wonderful places to visit. Upwey is a beautiful village and great for so many different walks. Owners or cottage were so helpful and their dog Luca was a wonderful surprise visitor. This cottage was one of the most relaxing holiday accommodations I have ever stayed in. PERFECT

We had a fantastic week exploring Dorset and Garden cottage was the idea base. It was stocked with everything you might need during your stay and the welcome hamper was a lovely little touch. John & Sally were extremely welcoming, and we enjoyed our little visits from Luca the dog. Upwey is super cute. We enjoyed breakfast and afternoon cakes at the Wishing Well tea rooms and had a delightful evening meal at The Ship Inn. Both were friendly and warm places and we are looking forward to our next visit already.

This is an aptly named cottage and the setting is beautiful. There was a welcome pack with. milk ,a pack of tea, coffee. biscuits and wine. The house had many homely touches and fresh flowers had been thoughtfully placed. We would not recommend it for taller or the less flexible guests, as the stairs to the loft style bedroom are ship ladder style and the bedroom ceilings are mostly sloped. Garden cottage is well placed for walks and visits to many interesting museums, houses and historical sites and of course the coast. Sitting in the garden after a day out, and breakfast in the sun drenched conservatory, were probably the best aspects of staying in this particular cottage.
