About this property

Lying at the heart of the coastal town of Weymouth in Dorset is Barakah. This wonderful holiday home benefits from a close proximity to local amenities and the beach, a private rear courtyard and three bedrooms welcoming up to five guests ideal for a family getaway to the coast. Cross the threshold where a homely living/dining room awaits, snuggle up on either of the plush sofas and flick on the Smart TV while the designated chef of the group makes themselves at home in the fully-equipped kitchen. Enjoy a hearty, home-cooked meal around the dining table or delight in an alfresco affair in the rear courtyard which is also the perfect place to savour evening drinks as the sun sets over Dorset.

When the sky darkens, wash off the day’s adventures in the shower room before getting some much-needed rest in either the double, twin, or single bedroom. Barakah lies paces away from local stores to help ease your self-catered stay and bars including The Gloucester, The Nook, and Kika Beach which all serve a variety of drinks and close by to some great places for food. It also lies conveniently from some of Weymouth’s most popular attractions; spend the day at the golden shores of Greenhill Beach before exploring the SEA LIFE centre which houses a variety of aquatic animals and family-friendly exhibits that the children will love, stop at Sandworld and marvel at the impressive sand sculptures.

There is plenty of history laced throughout the coast, those looking to immerse themselves in this can visit the Tudor House Museum, North Fort, Sandsfoot and Portland Castle or venture inland to Dorchester. Here you can admire the Maumbury Rings Roman Amphitheatre, the Roman Townhouse, Shire Hall Museum and the National Trust Site of Max Gate which was Thomas Hardy’s former home. The coastal towns of Poole and Bournemouth are slightly further afield but provide a wealth of other attractions to experience. Unlock the wonders of the Jurassic Coast at Barakah in Weymouth.

Weymouth is a great place to visit any time of the year because of the wide range of activities and attractions available. The beautiful, golden sand beaches are home to first-rate watersports infrastructure, and fishing trips leave regularly from the harbor's picturesque, thriving centre. Portland Harbour and the rugged "Isle" of Portland are just a short drive away, connected to Weymouth by the breath-taking Chesil Beach. The town of Dorchester, the inspiration for Thomas Hardy's fictional Casterbridge, is only seven miles away, and along the coast you can stop by the Abbotsbury Swannery and Subtropical Gardens. If you'd rather, you can always just go to West Bay, where you'll be treated to stunning views of the Dorset Heritage Coast.

The saucepans were unusable because they were all scratched and were dirty with food still left on them. Took hours cleaning the sink, drainer and whole kitchen before it could be used. There was a massive patch of damp in the dining area. My partner gashed his head on the low sloped ceiling leading up to the attic room. No warning or sign that there was a low sloped ceiling. The shower leaked through to the kitchen ceiling onto the kitchen floor all over the worktop and onto the electrical sockets. A plumber came round but the problem wasn't fixed and it happened again only worse so for 3.5 days of our week long stay we didn't have a shower. No blackout curtains in the main bedroom so woken very early each morning and bedroom was restrictive due to massive chair for dressing table. Thick pubic hair in the tumble dryer filter. No bins in bedrooms. Hot tap in bathroom basin loose and loose fittings on heated towel rail. No small sharp knives in the kitchen and no suitable cooking utensils. Outside bins were not emptied neither was the recycling. Couldn't get the TV to work properly.

There were stains on the radiators, kitchen splash backs. Lampshades and headboards were covered in cobwebs. Even the front door to the property was dirty with lots of black marks. The bathroom had a tiny little mirror, no bins. The courtyard was tiny and the wall, chairs and table covered in bird droppings. The recycling bin was not emptied. They advertise as a cottage for 5 people but the kitchen was not equipped well. There were tiny little pans- like milk pans only. Basic items like can opener, cheese grators were missing. Even though some were sorted out whilst we were there we wasted a lot of our time trying to clean and be on the phone to Skyes. We were very disappointed
