Guests say

Guests appreciate The Old Forge for its peaceful and idyllic setting, comfortable bed, and excellent shower. The cottage offers a quiet retreat with modern touches and is praised for its wildlife-friendly garden. The host's hospitality, including homemade treats, adds to the charm. Some guests suggest the sofa could be more comfortable and the location requires driving for amenities.

There is no specific mention of cleanliness in the reviews, so it is not possible to provide an accurate score.

The location is described as peaceful and idyllic, ideal for guests seeking tranquility. It is noted for its proximity to wildlife and scenic walks, though it requires driving to access shops and pubs.

The comfort of the bed and the warmth of the shower room are frequently praised. However, several guests mention that the sofa could be more comfortable, which suggests room for improvement.

The cottage is well-equipped with a good cooker and utensils. However, there are comments about the need for a dishwasher repair, a sofa upgrade, and additional furnishings like a bigger chair, which affects the score.

The host's thoughtfulness is highlighted by mentions of homemade cakes, bird food, and fresh flowers. While these gestures are highly appreciated, guests should be aware that such personal touches, though delightful, may not be guaranteed with every stay.

This is a welcoming Old Forge conversion. Very modern and a good feel to it.It is fairly remote but it’s what we wanted, peace and quiet, no road noise. Lovely stream running through hamlet. 2 miles to shop or pub. Beautiful run over to the coast or to Dorchester and Poundbury. Dogs very welcome and plenty of small birds on the feeders. It’s all interesting .We chose a wet week but managed some fun. Judy is a good baker/ cook.

We had great time, would have been nice if dishwasher was working, and washing up clothes would have been nice, and sofa was a little uncomfortable, but staying that we loved it.

Small but fine for 2. Judy was a friendly host and kept us well supplied with homemade cake and bird food. Very quiet hamlet, good for wildlife and birds on the feeders in particular. Local walks from the property but do have to drive out for everything else. Quiet, peaceful spot to get away from it all.
