About this property

Boasting immaculate attention to detail, The Dairy is a beautifully converted barn situated near Uploders close to Bridport in Dorset. The perfect destination for a family or couples travelling together, the property has a wealth of period features and stylish furnishings which add up to create accommodation with a truly inviting ambience. The open-plan living space is light and airy with magnificent high ceilings, feature beams, an idyllic seating area, French doors leading outside and an attractive woodburning stove making a delightful focal point to the space. Step into the wonderfully fitted kitchen which has a charming breakfast bar where you can pull up a stool and perch awhile quaffing your favourite tipple while the designated chef gets to work cooking up a storm. When dinner is prepared, take your pick from the elegant dining area which lends itself to long, sociable meals or if the sun is shining, step outside onto the private patio area, ideal for spending time alfresco. When it’s time for bed, take your pick from the king-size or double; both are equally well-presented and provide a welcome sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of holiday life. There is nowhere nicer to wake up than at The Dairy where after a refreshing bath or shower, you can head out for a day of holiday activities. There is no shortage of things to do here with the property enjoying a superb location between Bridport with its attractive selection of shops and amenities and the market town of Dorchester where you can take in the wonderful views, check out the museum and pay a visit to Maiden Castle. For a short but scenic drive pay a visit to Weymouth, Portland and Chesil, part of the region’s infamous Jurassic Coastline or head out into the countryside for some fabulous walks to places such as the Golden Cap, West Bay Cliffs, Burton Bradstock and Thorncombe Beacon. For the crème-de-la-crème of holidays take a trip to The Dairy.

The attractive market town of Bridport grew up around the River Brit, and was shaped by its extensive history of rope and net making. The long, wide streets and alleyways between the houses were once where the flax strands were twisted into rope, while today those streets are filled with an interesting variety of shops, restaurants and inns. Bridport’s market is regularly featured on the River Cottage TV programme. 2 miles south of Bridport is the dramatic Jurassic coast at West Bay, now a World Heritage Site, home to the backdrop for TV's Harbour Lights and the coastal setting for popular Broadchurch, whilst the picturesque resort of Lyme Regis is within 10 miles. A superb base for exploring wonderful West Dorset.

The underfloor heating and woodburning stove kept the Dairy warm and cosy, even in a damp February! Friendly welcome from Carol, the owner, who lives on site. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in the Bridport area and do some walking and exploring,.

The property is very well laid out and a great deal of thought has gone into making the property comfortable and welcoming. Very clean and good quality furnishings. Good location for coastal and inland walks. Road noise (mentioned on the listing) was not at all troublesome and wi-fi was fine. Would recommend this cottage and would definitely stay here again.
