Ivy Cottage in West Lulworth receives high praise for its cosy comfort, excellent location near local attractions, and well-equipped facilities. Guests appreciate the property's cleanliness, spaciousness, and the secure garden, especially those with dogs. The proximity to good pubs and restaurants adds to the charm, although parking can be tight and some minor maintenance issues are noted.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The cottage is consistently described as spotlessly clean, with numerous guests highlighting the cleanliness as a key feature. The property's upkeep appears to be of a high standard, contributing to the overall positive experience.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to local pubs, restaurants, and attractions like Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. The village setting and easy access to coastal walks are frequently mentioned as highlights.

Many reviews mention the cottage's cosy and comfortable atmosphere, with well-furnished rooms and a warm fireplace. The presence of an enclosed garden and spacious bedrooms adds to the comfort level, although some guests note traffic noise in front-facing rooms.

Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good Wi-Fi. However, some reviews mention minor maintenance issues such as a loose bath tap, a leaking bath plug, and a need for additional lighting, which slightly impacts the score.

Guests have mentioned thoughtful touches like a welcome pack with milk, Prosecco, and biscuits. While these gifts are appreciated, it's important to note that such extras, while delightful, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Dating from the 1600s Ivy Cottage is a lovely thatched Grade II listed cottage sitting on the village road leading to Lulworth Cove in Dorset. It is semi-detached to its sister cottage Little Ivy.

Situated in the heart of West Lulworth, one of the most popular villages along the coast in Dorset, Ivy Cottage retains many features such as original beams and the inglenook fireplace in the living area - now with a cosy log burner.

Welcoming 2 well behaved pets you will feel comfortable relaxing in the secured garden after an exciting day out. The house is fully equipped giving guests that ‘home from home' feel.

Lulworth Cove, famous for its geologically unique and beautiful cove is only a few minutes’ walk from the property where you will find tempting seasonal shops and kiosks including those specialising in ice cream, fudge and sea food. Access to The South West Coast Path is also just a short walk away, where you have a choice of directions offering fantastic walks, views and scenery. Make sure to check opening times to nearby Range walks for access to Fossil Forest and the ghost village at Tyneham. Alternatively, you can look for some fossils and admire different landscape with Jurassic coast rocks at the nearby beautiful Chapman’s Pool, Kimmeridge bay.

Close to the cottage is The Castle Inn, a pet friendly pub with a comfortable garden. A visit to famous Durdle Door, an iconic rock formation rising from the sea and resembling a doorway, is a must. This is also a favoured area for snorkelling from the beach or walking along the cliffs.

A kayak tour can be arranged locally from Lulworth Cove and it's an experience to treasure as you are shown secret little pools, fossils and beaches accessed via sea only.

About a 30-minute drive to the west is Weymouth and to the East is Swanage, both are traditional seaside towns and perfect for a day trip. On your return to Ivy Cottage after a adventurous day out why not eat alfresco in the enclosed garden whilst enjoying the last of the day's sun.

West Lulworth boasts the most dramatic geological features on the Jurassic coast line and arguably the most photographed locations in the UK is Durdle Door. Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door sit side by side at the heart of this area and really are a must visit. Lulworth Cove has many little café’s and beach side shacks serving local seafood, ice cream and other delights, as well as several restaurants and pubs from which to choose. There is an Lulworth estate information centre which offers an insight into how the cove and Durdle door were formed and Jurassic history of the region. If you tire of Cove and cliff top walks then Lulworth Castle is a short drive away and offers another glimpse at some more recent history, along with Tyneham Village, and Corfe Castle. This is a really special area and the village retains a lot of it’s thatched cottages and has a real air of a rural retreat.

The Christmas tree was a surprise and looked lovely. Very cosy, everything we needed. Great enclosed garden for the dog to run around, even sat out in the garden one afternoon. A short walk to the cove and next door to a very friendly pub with good food.

The photographs don’t do it justice at all and is much bigger than anticipated. Great location for exploring wether by car or on foot which was perfect for us and our dog with the added bonus of a pub on the doorstep. Would highly recommend without hesitation !

So comfortable. Lovely bathrooms and bedrooms and a lovely garden. The car parking space is very tight, but we have a small car so it was ok :-)
