The immediate vicinity of the property is a quiet idyll yet step a little further away and you are in the centre of the village and near the ruins of Corfe Castle. Corfe Castle was originally constructed in the 11th century by William the Conqueror and has been adapted on many occasions since. During the summer, the Purbeck Film Festival holds movie evenings at the castle which are a spectacular experience. Younger visitors will love the model village, while older visitors who remember the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton might be interested to know that Corfe Castle was the inspiration for Kirrin Castle. A beautiful stone archway holds the entrance to this cottage and on entering through the stable door into the hall, the period features appear instantly visible. The period features continue with stone walls and an original bread oven in its own inglenook, but this is mixed with appliances befitting a modern day kitchen.
