Overlooking Dorset’s countryside in the village of Wool is Highbank. This wonderful, dog-friendly abode benefits from a terrace garden with patio, furniture and barbecue, a spacious kitchen/diner with woodburning stove and three well-appointed bedrooms welcoming eight guests, perfect for families looking to explore the wealth of attractions in Dorset. After a day of exploring the nearby coast, enter your new home-from-home to unwind on the plush sofas in the sitting room in front of the Smart TV. Later, head to the fully-equipped kitchen/diner to rustle up a hearty meal that can be enjoyed at the dining table where the crackling woodburning stove creates a homely ambience. In warmer months, step outside to fire up the barbecue and delight in an alfresco affair upon the patio furniture, or simply enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple while watching the sun set over Dorset’s countryside. When the sky darkens, choose from three bedrooms to catch your rest in, there is a family room with king-size and single, a double with single and a ground-floor double bedroom all serviced by a shower room and a ground-floor bathroom. Highbank lies paces away from the centre of Wool where you can ease your self-catered stay at the local store or treat your loved ones to a special meal at The Black Bear or The Ship Inn. The River Frome separates the town from Monkey World Ape Rescue, one of Dorset’s most popular attractions, housing an array of rescued and endangered primates that the whole family will enjoy seeing. Venture south, passing the impressive 17th century Lulworth Castle in Wareham, to the coast where you can explore the Jurassic coast at Man O’War beach next to the iconic Durdle Door with breath-taking views across the sea. Follow the South West coastal path to find a myriad of attractions including Lulworth Cove, Fossil Forest, Flower’s Barrow and Durlston Castle. Unlock the secrets of Dorset and the Jurassic coast at Highbank.
Wool, a small Dorset community, has its own railroad station and is served by the Jurassic Coast bus (X54), which connects Poole and Weymouth. The River Frome flows through the community and is well-known for being home to the Woolbridge Manor, a 17th-century estate where Tess of the D’Urbervilles spent her honeymoon in Thomas Hardy's novel. About 12 miles outside of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy's Cottage makes for an intriguing day trip from Wool. The Tank Museum, Clouds Hill, the setting for Lawrence of Arabia, and the animal sanctuary Monkey World lie just outside Wool, one of Purbeck's most popular tourist destinations. You may visit West Lulworth, home to the magnificent geological wonders of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, after a quick 5-mile journey from Lulworth. Wool in Dorset has everything you require for a countryside retreat.

General dirt in kitchen, had to wipe out fridge etc kettle was full of limescale. Oven wasnât the best & the trays need to replacing. Otherwise couldnât fault the stay, comfy , had everything we needed for a family of 8 & a dog. Great location.

Cottage was well equipped, in excellent condition and everything worked perfectly. Convenient location for visits to Arne RSPB nature reserve, Lulworth and the steam train to Swanage. Lovely few days away. Although the listing says steep steps in the garden it is not clear that these are to the front of the property which makes the cottage unsuitable for people with reduced mobility.

Wool itâs self is a lovely place and we were central to all the areas we wanted to see. Definitely value for the money
