Swanage is a small, family-friendly beach town on the renowned Isle of Purbeck, at the eastern extremity of Dorset's renowned Jurassic Coast. Swanage is arguably best known for its lovely, gently sloping golden sands. The small town is well renowned for its annual jazz festival, which is held in July, and for its abundance of stores, fine taverns, and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood. The charming Victorian wooden pier is a lovely spot to promenade, go fishing, or just sit and take in the sights. It's also a popular starting point for divers. Regular vintage steam engine excursions transport tourists on a charming 6-mile journey, chugging through gorgeous countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle, from the town's terminal on the historic Swanage Railway. With beautiful coastline walks, dolphin sightings, and wildlife viewing in addition to comfortable viewing areas and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air, nearby Durlston Country Park makes for a fantastic day out. Take the frequent chain ferry that travels over the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks and the short drive to Studland, which has one of the best beaches in the nation and is bordered by heathland. Any time of year, you can enjoy a great holiday here.

The door to the small bedroom at the front sticks like mad when trying to close it and makes a loud noise, not ideal when you’re trying to put a toddler to sleep. The mattress in the main front bedroom is very hard and the bed frame squeaky when you turn over in the night. The garden is not currently dog proof as the fence has come away from the sitting area adjoining the fence and not been replaced so need to keep your dog on a lead in the garden which isn’t great. Now for the positives: very clean, spacious rooms, great location, tastefully decorated, kitchen has everything you could possibly need, lovely gifts on arrival, plenty of room for at least two cars on the driveway.

We were a party size of four adults and we will definitely rebook in future.

We were able to walk to Swanage and our elderly parents accessed the bus meters from the front door. We did not use the cars all week! We ate at both the Crows Nest and Village Inn both within ten minutes walk. Excellent parking, the side access gates allowed us to park our trailer out of sight. We enjoyed using the garden, chairs and barbeque. There was plenty of hot water and great shower pressure. We appreciated towels being provided as it saved laundry when we got home! The kitchen is well laid out with plenty of room for multiple people to work and having two fridges was useful. TVs set up was great with lots of choices, apps and streaming available. The only negatives for us were that we found the double bed in the rear bedroom was too hard, and there is no bedside light on one side of the double bed in the front bedroom. The front single bedroom door sticks and is noisy when opened. We felt the kitchen inventory needs to be re-examined as it is an eclectic mix instead of six of everything matching. These are minor points overall we had a fabulous stay. Thanks
