Within an easy drive one can enjoy the quaint, character abbey town of Sherborne, or the Saxon hill-top and market town of Shaftesbury, both with restaurants and shops, or have days out visiting attractions such as Longleat House and Safari Park, Stourhead house and garden and memorable days at either the Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum or Haynes International Motor Museum with its wonderful selection of classic cars. Inland explore Glastonbury with its famous Tor, Cheddar Gorge, the cathedral city of Wells and the beautiful Georgian city of Bath with its famous Roman baths, pump room, museums and shops. Meander south into Dorset, passing the Cerne Abbas Giant and taking in Dorchester and onward to Weymouth and Hardy country, before reaching the famous and scenic Chesil Beach and World Jurassic Coast. There are many historic houses to marvel at, attractions to take the family to and if you wish, just simply enjoy wonderful country walking, pubs for wining and dining, maybe golf nearby or even a day at the Wincanton races.
