Guests say

Southlake Barn receives glowing feedback for its immaculate presentation, peaceful location on the edge of Dartmoor, and warm, welcoming hosts. Guests consistently praise the well-equipped kitchen, cosy wood burner, and thoughtful touches throughout. The property is ideal for walkers, dog owners, and those seeking tranquillity, with direct access to the moors and local amenities nearby. While a few guests mention the bathroom and shower space as narrow and the bedrooms warm during a heatwave, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.

Cleanliness is repeatedly highlighted, with guests describing the barn as spotless, immaculate, and beautifully presented throughout their stay.

The location is highly praised for its peacefulness, proximity to Dartmoor and Burrator reservoir, and easy access to walks and local pubs. A minor note is the lack of a village shop.

Guests find the barn cosy, warm, and comfortable, especially appreciating the wood burner and beds. Some mention the bathroom and shower as narrow, and the bedrooms can get warm in hot weather.

Facilities are described as excellent, with a well-equipped kitchen, spacious living areas, and thoughtful amenities for both guests and dogs. A few mention slippy floors and a worn track, but these are minor.

Many guests mention thoughtful touches such as homemade jam, fresh bread, flowers, and dog treats. While these gestures are much appreciated, please note that such gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful barn conversion. The location is so peaceful—the perfect place to unwind and switch off.Our host was everything you could hope for: exceptionally welcoming without being at all intrusive, striking just the right balance. The homemade touches on arrival, including fresh bread and jam, were so thoughtful and made us feel right at home straight away.We happened to stay during an intense heatwave, which certainly proved challenging at times, but the comfort and charm of the barn made all the difference. We would love to return!

Very quiet and secluded holiday cottage, within easy walking distance of Burrator reservoir.Kitchen Dining Room is large and fully fitted out with everything you need for self catering. The Property was found to be very warm during the latest heatwave experienced during first week of July. It was difficult to cool down the two bedrooms at upper floor level which are built into the roof space with low sloping ceilings and single skylight windows.

Wonderful accommodation. We particularly loved sitting on the large balcony, and cooking in a spacious well equipped kitchen! Melanie was a great host, we would recommend a holiday here!
