About this property

Robin’s Rest is nestled in a tranquil valley setting of some two and a half acres, comprising far reaching views, colourful gardens, orchard meadow, and woodland with a crystal clear stream running through it, near the picturesque village of Bere Alston in Devon. The Bere Penninsula is in a designated AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Ideal for a romantic retreat or a solo traveller looking for creative inspiration, this lovely first-floor studio apartment makes for a wonderful base at any time of year. Arriving at the property, an off road parking space greets you, before stepping through a colourful array of plants and shrubbery...a nature lover’s dream! You will find plenty of peaceful seating areas to choose from in the warmer months; hidden terraces and grassy areas bursting with wild flowers and vegetation. Also, there are welcoming Chimeneas on secluded patios which are perfect places to enjoy the chillier evenings. Climb the steps and make your way into the studio-style layout, home to a plush king-size bed and open-plan living space. Enjoy a tasty breakfast at the dining table or out on the patio in the early morning summer sun, while taking in the breath taking scene. Back inside, relax in front of the Smart TV after a day of exploring, before jumping into bed for some well-earned rest.Stock up on your essentials at the Tavistock Farmers’ Market, which is popular among the locals, or indulge in some browsing at the medieval Tavistock Pannier Market, featuring work from artists and sellers within the community. For a delightful day of walking head up to the wilds of Dartmoor National Park, or discover Drakes Trail, where you can walk or cycle to your hearts content, if you prefer. Conveniently located near the River Tamar, this Studio Apartment offers a world of outdoor adventure; perhaps you could spend an afternoon with Serious Outdoor Skills, a fantastic outdoor activity planner providing guided canoe trips and their Tamar Valley Full Moon Paddle. If you prefer a more tranquil approach to your days out, take a trip to Cotehele, a superb National Trust House featuring some enchanting gardens and orchard for you to explore. Further afield, make your way to the Ocean City of Plymouth home to an eclectic range of shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes to fuel your excursions, or perhaps treat yourself to a River Cruise along the beautiful Tamar. Whatever your style of adventure or relaxation, choose Robin’s Rest as your base.

Situated between the rivers Tavy and Tamar is the pretty Devon village of Bere Alston. Resting within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the village is known for its picture-perfect scenery and for its former position as a thriving port shipping tin from Dartmoor. Nearby, following the River Tamar upstream is Morwellam Quay, renowned for its role in the 1860s when half of the world's copper travelled through. Also within easy reach of Bere Alston is the city of Plymouth, with regular trains running year round.

The hosts though were great, thoughtful in small and large ways and I would definitely return. There was plenty to do within the area. Sadly the weather wasn't brilliant, i.e. not brilliant enough to sit and enough a glass of wine with hosts in the garden, another time ......

We had everything we needed and our hosts were very welcoming, friendly & helpful. The apartment was extremely comfortable & beautifully decorated and the grounds & gardens were beautiful & great to explore. The location was great to explore south Devon (& some of Cornwall) from. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a stay here.
