Boasting a characterful interior with off-road parking and a variety of livestock across the farm, The Milking Parlour is a great base for families and couples seeking a relaxing yet unique base in Devon. After a day of rambling the surrounding countryside, the underfloor heating will provide a subtle warmth as you relax, with a wonderful oak-framed conservatory to welcome your return. The head chef can become acquainted in the kitchen, hosting all the necessities for a short-stay, whilst the dining area is where all can congregate to feast. Take the handcrafted solid oak stairs up to your Minstrels Gallery, which has views of the kitchen and conservatory, before making yourself comfortable beside the woodburning stove. Outside, take in the stunning and peaceful surroundings, relaxing with a drink on the patio furniture or wandering the expansive farmland as you come close to the animals. A tiny settlement in the Ruby Country region of rural Devon, surrounded by stunning landscape (so named after the local Ruby Red Devon cattle). The unspoiled countryside of Devon is home to various pathways for cyclists and walkers. About 7 miles from the border of the Dartmoor National Park is the historic tiny market town of Hatherleigh, where walkers and bikers may access the Tarka Trail. About a 20-minute drive lies Okehampton, a major market town with a variety of stores and supermarkets. The stunning RHS Rosemoor gardens at Great Torrington, National Trust properties like Lydford Gorge, Castle Drogo, Cotehele, Buckland Abbey, and The Finch Foundry, as well as miles of breathtaking scenery, are all nearby. Bude's beautiful surfing and sandy beaches, as well as the larger attractions of the North Cornwall coast, such as Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac, and Morwenstow, are also easily accessible. Due to its central location, Highampton is a great starting point for exploring this pristine region of Devon and North Cornwall.

Penny & Paul were very welcoming and the accommodation is comfortable and well equipped with lots of character. Quiet and peaceful location but also well connected just off the A3072 with easy access to the north Devon coast, Cornwall and Dartmoor.

It was very comfortable, clean, and well stocked. we made friends with the chickens and met some of the animals. It was a very peaceful site, and we would most certainly re-visit in the future.
