This historic building dates from the 1820’s and was originally a working forge. The pretty, detached, single story, barn conversion has been sympathetically converted and retains many original features with natural stone walls, exposed beamed ceilings and high quality furnishings. A character property with a spacious interior. Nestled within glorious countryside in the delightful hamlet of Quoditch near Ashwater in Devon, this delightful cottage is the ideal choice to unwind and recharge your batteries. All on one level, the light and airy open plan living area has a well-equipped kitchen and sofas surrounding a cosy wood burner. Outside, there is an enclosed patio area, complete with garden seating to enjoy a lazy breakfast while you plan your day. Ashwater has a really good pub and for those wishing to explore, Meadowside Forge could not be more centrally located for visiting the Eden Project one day and Bude or Widemouth Bay the next.
Just 17 miles from the breathtaking North Cornish coast and many dog friendly beaches, with excellent surfing, pretty coves and dramatic coastal walks along with shopping, leisure facilities, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Holsworthy, 8 miles, has a good selection of local shops and supermarkets along with a weekly market. The market town of Okehampton and Launceston with its historic castle are a short drive away. Coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, fishing, horse riding and cycling are all on offer close by and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature lovers. The property is close to the water sports centre at Roadford Lake, where sailing dinghies, kayaks and wind-surfers can be hired. Beach 17 miles. Shop 8 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

A great base for a week of exploring! The characterful forge had everything we needed, clean & comfortable plus it was quiet and provided an enjoyable break away from it all!

We had a lovely week staying at Meadowside Forge, it was a real home from home. The cottage was clean, beautifully furnished and well equipped. Because of the hot weather, the owners had even provided fans in each room. There were welcome packs for both us and our dog, which were much appreciated. There is a lovely garden with a shaded seating area, where we were able to relax at the end of the day and escape the heat. The setting is rural and very peaceful. We would definitely stay here again if we returned to the area.

Fantastic accommodation and hosts.The cleanest and best equipped accommodation we have stayed in, amazing attention to detail and "little extras" make such a difference.Lovely welcome hampers for humans and dogs, and the best fresh eggs from the owners hens.Very peaceful with a lovely outside area, quite "rural" but thats part of it's charm and local amenities are withon 10-15 mins and the beautiful North Devon/Cornish coast and attractions a 30 min drive.Cannot recommend highly enough!!Thanks to Tash and Mikey for a lovely stay and making us feel welcome.🙂
