It is a lovely property in a lovely location, (just to be aware that all the roads to Sheepwash are back roads.) A heads up that tea towels and hand wash were provided and well as welcome biscuits, milk and dog treats - much appreciated and thank you!

The property is in a lovely rural village which is very peaceful and perfect to walk to the village shop and pub. However the property listed says it sleeps 5 with a sofa bed making it 7. So why does the lounge only have 1 x 2 seater sofa and then a 2 seater sofa bed? The downstairs accommodation has 2 small dining tables one which is near the kitchen was full of the owners paper work and filing, the other was stuffed into the corner of the living room.I’m total there were only 4 dining chairs. This property was booked for a family reunion and we could not sit down and have an evening meal all together or relax in front of the TV at the end of the day to watch a movie. During the stay we had delivery drivers knocking on the door dropping parcels for the owner off which we knew nothing about and were quite surprised to be put in that position of accepting deliveries for them? Cleanliness was average at best, with dust and cobwebs covering much of the living areas. The kitchen has a huge beautiful oven which only half works- the other half has all the oven racking collapsed and broken. There was a very basic amount of crockery much of it miss matched and looks like it has come from the Owners house as it has initials on it. We found chopping boards that someone has written messages on to someone else. They were unusable because they’d been written on in a marker pen. The garden was poorly maintained with the grass not cut and a cement mixer and old freezer dumped at the back door. You can only access the garden through the garage which again is full of the owners possessions. It felt like you were staying in someone’s house not a holiday property. Upstairs the bedrooms were ok and the beds very comfortable. The furniture was random with one bedroom having an old office chair in which was stained and quite honestly should have been thrown in a bin. We would suggest the velux windows upstairs have blinds installed as they currently don’t which did make sleeping diffucult. For the money we paid for our short stay we are disappointed. If it wasn’t for the fact it’s the first time our family have been together in many years and our stay was a short stay we would have formally complained but didn’t want to spoil our long weekend with the hassle of it all. The owner needs to invest in furnishings and fixtures and this property would be amazing but currently it feels neglected and an after thought. Overall very disappointed

The cottage itself is lovely very spacious and well equipped for a home from home and Peter (the owner) very nice however it seems a work in progress and some things need addressing, there was only parking for 1 car , the slabs by the shed need looking at as their flip up as our dog found out, and whilst we enjoyed our stay and Peter means well but leaving opened food in the fridge/freezer is not what you want when you stay
