The Old Barn is a spacious and characterful cottage in Bideford, offering a peaceful and authentic country retreat. Guests appreciate its quirky charm, well-equipped interiors, and excellent garden, making it ideal for families and history lovers. While some minor maintenance and cleaning issues were noted, and there are a few restrictions for dogs, the overall experience is positive, with many guests enjoying their stay and even returning.
Most guests found the property generally clean, but several mentioned overlooked areas such as dusty wall hangings, leftover food in the oven, and stained towels. These issues suggest room for improvement in deep cleaning.
The cottage is praised for its peaceful setting and proximity to North Devon and Cornwall attractions. However, some guests noted the lack of nearby pubs or shops within walking distance.
Guests found the cottage spacious, cosy, and relaxing, with comfortable living areas and beds. Some mentioned low ceilings and steps that may challenge those with mobility issues, but overall comfort was rated highly.
The property is well-equipped and suitable for families, but some facilities need updating, such as the shower, extractor hood, and TV. Issues with WiFi and water temperature were also reported.

The old Barn is a lovely holiday cottage with plenty of space and full of character. some of the facilities could do with an update. The shower in the ensuite in the upstairs bedroom needs some attention the shower head is in need of a new holder as it doesn't hold the head upright and you have to hold it to use the shower and the water pressure is a bit hit and miss if the downstairs tap is running. The towels in the upstairs bedroom had stains on from what I could image was fake tan cream or makeup. The extractor hood doesn't work so when cooking the kitchen fills with smoke when cooking in a frying pan and the TV could do with being replaced as it has black lines across the screen some fans would help in the warmer weather as the ceiling fan has little effect in cooling the property. Overall though apart from those details described the cottage was comfortable and in a great location with easy access to many local attractions and beeches and even close enough to cross the border into Cornwall.

This is a very well equipped and well maintained property. Perfect for a family holiday base. Could even take two families (with young children) at a pinch. (Lots of beds) . Very peaceful location with excellent sized garden. Very quick drive to Bideford. Interior decor cosy, quirky and not prinked so very relaxing to live in! We had a very good time here.
