About this property

Shaldon 2 miles. Combe Valley Shepherd's Hut is peacefully situated in its own garden area on the edge of the pretty Devon village of Combeinteignhead.

Coombe Valley Shepherd's Hut welcomes two guests: perfect for a couple who are looking to explore this stunning region and features ground-floor living, a front garden, stunning rural views and close proximity to the estuary and beaches.

A tranquil nature-lover's paradise, it is ten minutes walk to the Teign Estuary with sailing, rowing and stand up paddle boards and to two lovely gastro pubs.

It is just ten minutes drive to the seaside village of Shaldon with its sandy beaches, restaurants and cafes and to Maidencombe Cove with its red cliffs and cafe. There are supermarkets and stations in Newton Abbot and Teignmouth and Dartmoor National Park is just half an hour away. Coombe Valley Shepherds Hut is on the edge of a small village with two lovely gastro pubs: the cosy real-ale Wild Goose Inn with its open fires and pretty garden and Coombe Cellars with its stunning riverside setting, as well as the Woodshed Coffee Bar, all within ten minutes walking distance.

The beach is approximately 2 miles away, as is the pretty coastal village of Shaldon. This well-equipped Shepherd's hut is small but perfectly formed!

The shaker style kitchen has a microwave, toaster, kettle, induction hob and a fridge with ice box as well as all the pans, utensils and crockery that you would expect.

Take advantage of the neat dining space or dine alfresco with a glass of wine in hand, soaking in your serene surroundings. The mattress is a luxury pocket sprung mattress and is raised up with a spacious area below to tuck away suitcases, shoes etc.

The bistro table and chairs fold away if you would like a little more space.

The hut is heated with a wall mounted convection electric heater - turn it on and it is toasty in minutes.

There is also a built-in bluetooth sound system so you can play your favourite music and there is even an atmospheric light

bar so you can adjust the lighting. In a separate room there is a shower and toilet, on mains

drainage. The private area outside boasts a

barbecue, a fire pit, a picnic table and a couple of adirondack chairs for you to kick back and soak in the country views across the pretty garden to the stream, the marsh and the rolling hills beyond.

Regular visitors include woodpeckers, deer, egrets, buzzards and even the odd kingfisher has been known to stop by. There are lanterns on the side of the hut and atmospheric solar lighting. To the side of the hut there is a pretty enclosed, paved area with a roll top bath with hot and cold water.

Guests can relax in the bath and admire the views across the valley and watch the sun set over the hill opposite. The hut also has its own parking space up a gentle slope.

Guests have their own private garden area.

This is for your exclusive use but is not fenced and guests are welcome to wander into the owners’ large, well-stocked, stream-bordered gardens complete with croquet lawn and vegetable patch.

This space is shared with the owners and occasionally their visiting family.

Lie in the hammock by the stream under the horse chestnut tree or feel free to borrow the croquet set and play on the croquet lawn. If you are after a day at the beach, you’ll be spoilt for choice in this lovely location, with the beautiful south Devon coastline only a short drive away.

Spend your days relaxing upon Teignmouth Beach, Shaldon Beach or Ness Cove Beach, perfect for sinking your toes into the sandy trails, swimming or enjoying coastal walks. From your doorstep, you can also explore the breathtaking landscapes of the Dartmoor National Park, admire pretty views over the River Teign or spend the day in Cockington Country Park, before taking a trip to the Greenway Estate, the former holiday home of famous crime novelist, Agatha Christie. Whether you’re looking for adventure or to unwind, book a stay at Coombe Valley Shepherd's Hut.

The weather was awful (January) but I was warm and safe in the hut. It is small, which I got used to, but I'm glad it was just me, particularly as I couldn't sit outside in that weather. I had a lovely hot bath outside under the stars, even in January. The owners have put a lot of care into all the amenities in the cabin. Great kitchenware! I was on a little retreat, and it was perfect for that. Walks down by the river and in the country lanes.

Wasn’t a problem for me as i had one in my van. Thank you for your recommendations of where to visit. I loved Totnes bought new outfits and lots of xmas shopping

I was concerned at first about how tiny it was and the long evening but it was lovely. Some lovely touches - orange juice, milk, scones and cream were there on arrival. Super comfy bed. I really enjoyed exploring the area, particularly the estuary and a coffee at the Woodshed, the tunnel to Ness Beach at Shaldon and the back beach at Teignmouth.
