Known as the "heart" of the English Riviera, where the climate is mild and palm trees thrive, Newton Abbot is a popular tourist destination. The historic marketplace has been replaced by a contemporary shopping district with a wide variety of stores, including six supermarkets carrying well-known brands. Additionally, there is a racetrack that hosts National Hunt races from spring through fall and winter craft fairs. The tap house and bottle shop in Newton Abbot is a one-of-a-kind pub housed in what was once a traditional working malthouse and serving some of the best bottled beers in Devon. Beachgoers can easily reach the wonderful family-friendly communities of Teignmouth, Shaldon, and Dawlish. Have fun at Teignmouth's beach all day long, where you can also explore the historic Victorian Pier.
