About this Bed and Breakfast

Lyme Bay House is a family-run B&B guest house in the picturesque South Devon town of Dawlish. Staying here ensures you're only a few minutes from the beach and a whole host of attractions and amenities. There's also great public transport links too; a railway station and a National Express and Stagecoach bus stops.

It's rated four stars by Visit England and it's been award the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. Owners Nikki and Ian have run the guest house for over seven years and they're renowned for providing great hospitality, sumptuous cooked breakfasts and spotlessly clean rooms.

Bedrooms / Bathrooms

The guest house is a traditional two-storey property originally built in 1927 and it has nine en-suite rooms. Each room has been recently refurbished and styled with Nikki's interior design touch. Four bedrooms are on the ground floor while five are upstairs. There's a variety of double and twin rooms to choose from, as well as a special family room and four poster bed Honeymoon Suite.

Breakfast

Breakfasts are cooked to order and served from 8:30 - 9:30am Monday - Friday and 9:00 - 9:45am Saturday and Sunday. It can be served at an earlier time by arrangement, ideal for contractors and those here on business.

Ingredients are locally sourced and include dry cured Devon bacon and sausages from the local butchers, and free range eggs from a farm in Dawlish. There's always a vegetarian breakfast available and it's made with Linda McCartney vegetarian sausages.

The menu begins with a self service buffet: cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, prunes, jams, marmalade and honey. Then, to order, choose from a full English breakfast or eggs cooked in a variety of styles.

Other Facilities

Families with children and well-behaved pets are welcome.

Guests can enjoy a drink in the fully licensed lounge bar, sit back and relax while reading a book or catch up on a bit of TV on the 42" flat screen Freesat TV.

Around and About

The guest house is centrally located and by car, train or bus, it's easy to access Exeter, Powderham, Starcross, Newton Abbot and Holcombe.

From the front door there are shops, tea rooms, coffee shops, pubs and the famous Gay's Creamery to visit.

Trainspotting, golf, cycling, walking and bird watching are just a few of the activities to sample in the local area. 

Directions

By road: Take the M5 Junction 30 and follow the A379 to Dawlish. Once you arrive in the town centre, pass over the stream and continue on the A379 for approximately 150 yards. Then head up the hill and the guest house will be on the right hand side.
