Dawlish is a great seaside town, with everything you need to enjoy your holiday. It has an abundance of shops, bars, eateries, takeaways, a theatre, launderette, charming gardens and an exciting golf course. Why not pack a picnic and soak up the sun at the sandy beach, perfect for swimming, exploring the rock pools and building sandcastles with the younger guests? For the ramblers, you can follow the Southwest Coast Path in two directions to discover breath-taking coastline scenery. Walk along the sea wall to the resort of Dawlish Warren which has a sandy beach with the Exe estuary on one side and the sea on the other, attractions, various local facilities, and a wonderful nature reserve to enjoy. The opposite direction takes you to the vibrant coastal town of Teignmouth with a beautiful long promenade, pier, beach restaurants and pubs, where you can sit and watch the world go by. You can also follow the river and a variety of walks along Dawlish Water.

There is also the opportunity to take the coastal train to neighbouring villages or further afield to Exeter, Paignton or Plymouth. You could also hire a boat or take a boat trip which makes for a great afternoon on the water. Also, within driving distance or by seasonal ferry from Starcross, is the popular seaside resort of Exmouth, with its boat tours, fishing opportunities, the historical Pirate Cove, the multiple breath-taking beaches, and the remarkable marina.
The 3,500-acre Haldon Hills Forest Park is just 10 minutes’ drive away and is criss-crossed with walking and cycling trails for all abilities, perfectly completed by brunch or a luscious slice of cake in the café. Nearby there is much to occupy the visitor along the English Riviera coastline including Paignton Zoo, both the Dartmouth and South Devon Steam Railways, and the fishing harbour of Brixham. Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach also offer a great alternative for a fun day-out and they are all within an hour’s drive. Venture to Exeter with its castle and cathedral, Exmouth the gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and Torquay which offers a selection of continental-style cafés and restaurants.

Jubilee Cottage is a very nice place to stay, a short from the town and even closer to local shops and takeaways. The house itself is very clean and has all the amenities you require. A great place to stay.

A great place to be based in Dawlish & to explore the surrounding area. Car parking permit was brilliant, a short stroll away from the property. Used the train too to explore & save on parking! The owner guide was excellent should you encounter any issues or need suggestions for outings and places to eat. Enjoyed our welcome treats (dogs included 🐶) and our short break.

We had a lovely weeks stay at Jubilee Cottage and would thoroughly recommend to people. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jubilee Cottage despite having rain (and a thunderstorm!) a few of the days. The kitchen was well equipped and the sensor light in the bathroom to avoid the fan coming on (at night time) was well received! The beds were comfortable and the box of biscuits and Easter egg were a lovely touch The four TVs were a luxury! The decor was of a good standard and the cottage was right in the centre of Dawlish, so all shops and cafés were easily accesible. When I emailed Emma to enquire if there were charging cables for the sensor light in the bathroom and bedside lights in the front bedroom, she ordered some from Amazon which arrived the following day Very efficient and courteous response. After unpacking, we parked our car at my in-laws, which was a 15 minute walk away. This was due to double yellow lines on the road outside the cottage and very limited parking on the opposite side. In all fairnes, Emma, the owner, did offer us a free parking permit at Barton Hill car park but we felt it was safer to leave our car in a residential area. A washing machine would have been handy instead of a dish washer (which we didnt use!) Drawers or shelf space would have been handy instead of just hanging rails in the wardrobe in the front bedroom.
