Primrose Cottage is a delightful cottage resting in Salcombe, Devon, enjoying estuary views, a private terrace, nearby parking, and a wonderful waterfront location. Ideal for couples , this beautifully refurbished former fisherman's cottage offers an excellent base from which to experience the stunning South Devon coastline. Positioned in a residential area close to the heart of Salcombe, Primrose Cottage combines character and location in equal measure. Following a full refurbishment, the cottage has been thoughtfully finished throughout, creating an inviting setting for time spent by the water. Step directly from the terrace into the light-filled open-plan living space, where the sitting area, dining area, and kitchen come together to create a sociable hub for your stay.
Large windows draw attention to the ever-changing views across the estuary, allowing the surrounding scenery to become part of the experience. The kitchen is equipped for preparing everything from leisurely breakfasts to evening meals enjoyed around the dining table after a day of exploration. Upstairs, the double bedroom continues the connection with the waterfront, offering further views across the estuary and towards Batson Creek. Completing the accommodation is a bathroom with a bath and shower over, ideal for freshening up before setting off for another day on the coast. Outside, the private terrace is a wonderful place to begin the morning with a coffee or end the day watching the light dance across the water.
Situated just a short walk from Salcombe's boutiques, restaurants, and famous waterfront, guests can leave the car behind and enjoy the town at their own pace. Venture into Kingsbridge and explore the Kingsbridge Estuary, browse the independent shops, or enjoy waterside strolls along the quay. Visit Dartmouth, home to the historic Dartmouth Castle, Britannia Royal Naval College, and the scenic embankment overlooking the River Dart. Alternatively, discover Hope Cove, where sheltered sandy beaches, dramatic coastal scenery, and access to the South West Coast Path provide memorable days outdoors. Whether you're seeking coastal walks, estuary views, or charming Devon towns, Primrose Cottage is a superb base for your Salcombe escape.
Salcombe is a popular destination for walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea and was once a major port. There are two pretty beaches within a short distance, North Sands and South Sands and further on is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. You can also take the small ferry across the estuary to the beaches of East Portlemouth, and a walk to Gara Rock. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including sailing, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe you must take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens.
