About this property

Leylands is a delightful late Victorian terraced house built for a sea captain, in a beautiful position in popular Salcombe. The property, which has been sympathetically renovated and furnished to a very high standard in recent years, has magnificent views of the harbour towards South Pool Creek and East Portlemouth, and is just a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and waterfront.

Arranged over two floors, the property is well equipped with baby/child friendly facilities, and with multiple living areas, it is excellent for those with older children who may want their own space. The open-plan kitchen/dining room is beautifully presented and equipped to a very high standard. There is also a delightful lounge with picture bay window offering an excellent view of the estuary, as well as a cosy second sitting room with two large sofas and an additional TV. Shower room on ground floor.

There are four first floor bedrooms: A master with wonderful estuary views, a King-size double bed and en suite with shower; a twin room with two single beds, a further double with a 4'6" bed, and finally a child’s bedroom with a set of bunk beds (only suitable for under 12's). In addition there is a recently renovated family bathroom on the first floor, and on the ground floor is a shower room.

To the rear of the house is a sloping garden and furnished sunny terrace, complete with a barbecue. A parking pass is provided for one car in the nearby long-stay car park (3 minutes' walk).

Leylands provides spacious, well-equipped family friendly accommodation, in a peaceful spot within easy reach of Salcombe’s amenities.

Leylands is featured in Junior Magazine online.

Salcombe is a popular destination for watersports enthusiasts, walkers and families looking for a holiday by the sea. There are several pretty beaches within a short distance, including North Sands and South Sands, plus the coves East Portlemouth on the opposite side of the estuary, just a short passenger ferry ride away. Also on your doorstep is the National Trust property Overbeck’s where you can wander through the subtropical gardens. Why not have a more adventurous day and try out the watersports available on the estuary including surfing, coasteering, kayaking or a more leisurely boat trip? Whilst staying in Salcombe, take advantage of the locally sourced seafood which is served in many of the restaurants, pubs, cafés and delicatessens. The southern tip of Devon provides some spectacular scenery and picturesque vistas with a number of sandy beaches, lovely villages with thatched cottages and some fantastic opportunities for walking on the South West Coast path.

The kitchen is spacious and works well as open plan living, well equipped with all the gadgets you need to be home from home and plenty of crockery and cutlery. The two sitting rooms worked brilliantly as a child free zone and a play room. Amazing view from master suite and 2 parking permits were great! Thank you. We will definitely be back. Only downside was that I got a parking ticket when loading the car to go home. Word of warning: keep a look out. The traffic warden said that I had left the car unattended for 5 minutes ! Otherwise, Coast and Country Cottages were brilliant and the holidays in Salcombe was fabulous....

I would not hesitate to recommend Leylands or the service we received from Sykes Cottages and their local affiliates Coast and Country. Leylands was comfortably large enough for our two families for the week. The second lounge was a blessing as we could insulate ourselves from our offspring. We adults spent most of our time in the kitchen/dinner that was a great size and very well stocked with all the crockery, cutlery and modern conveniences you could need. I also have to mention the very generous two parking permits. Anyone who knows Salcombe will appreciate that if they have two cars. Lastly the view from the master bedroom window is picture perfect. When we go back next year this will be the house we book.
