About this property

This stunning newly built boathouse which sits right on the waters edge is simply perfect for a couple.

Nestled in the trees along the foreshore of East Portlemouth, you are moments away from sandy beaches and exploring peaceful creeks.

When it comes to special locations, few deliver quite like Horsepool Boathouse. Nestled into the foreshore trees, this exquisite boathouse sits right on the waterfront of the Salcombe-Kingsbridge estuary. With incredible panoramic views you could sit for hours taking in the ever changing scenery and watery environment.

From your car parking area, walk down through the leafy canopy and into the first floor of the boathouse. Inside, you will find modern design that’s stylish, sophisticated but also welcoming and relaxed. You will be instantly blown away by the panoramic views across the water from the open plan kitchen, dining and comfortable seating area.

The boathouse is in an elevated position which means you can fully appreciate the estuary views. Sliding doors lead out onto the terrace making for a joyful indoor/outdoor living experience in the summer months as well as dramatic winter vistas. On cooler evenings, light the log burner and enjoy being snuggled up in your private lookout.

Downstairs you’ll find the bedroom (with super king bed) and probably the best bath on the estuary with views over the creek whilst you soak and relax! Black out blinds in the bedroom ensure a peaceful nights sleep. An en suite shower room and separate WC complete the ground floor.

Outside there is a triple kayak (for the two of you plus space for a woofer!) and buoyancy aids for guest use. Setting off from the boathouse to explore the estuary is a very special privilege. Find unexplored creeks, or head to one of the many sandy beaches along the coastline. Or even paddle over to Salcombe town to pick up fresh croissants and a coffee in the morning. As the tide ebbs away, you can also enjoy walking along the foreshore to empty beaches or to the popular Millbrook Inn or Port Waterhouse for barbecues and music.

Horsepool Boathouse is a destination in its own right; the location delivers total tranquility and the sea is only a couple of steps away for the very best adventures.

In the winter months, the boathouse is naturally warm inside being insulated to the highest standard. There is underfloor heating (fed by an air source heat pump) everywhere and a wood burning stove so it really is quite toasty even when there are freezing temperatures and howling gales outside!

One well behaved dog welcome at the discretion of the owner and an additional charge per week.

Please note that there are 36 steps from the parking area down to the boathouse.

Please note that cluster flies may be seen in spring on the inside of windows, but they pose no health threat. A handheld hoover is provided to remove them.

Paddle-boards can be hired for the duration of your stay.

Allergies: please note that dogs have been in Horsepool Boathouse.

Running mooring can be used by boats up to 4m long.

Please contact us if you plan on bringing a boat so that we can understand what facilities are required.

Smoking not allowed inside.

Well can I just say we are in love..we live in Mousehole in Cornwall overlooking the sea, so we are not strangers to a good view, but quite honestly the peace and tranquillity here is just divine!! What a property!

Beautiful surroundings, wonderful to wake up to the estuary every day. Easy walk to the ferry to get across to Salcombe, great coastal walks and paddling the estuary. The property itself is really gorgeous with all the mod cons for a relaxing trip. Having the kayak was a great added perk and the bath with a view over the estuary was a particular highlight!

We had a wonderful stay at the boathouse and quite frankly wish we were there again right now! The views were wonderful and we would stay again definitely, I would imagine that no matter what the season it just beautiful. We had a little paddle in the kayak which was great fun although we were mostly trying to stop Bertie the pup from jumping in…it was great fun! The bathtub with the views was just wonderful! We would give the rating of 5* for the boathouse!
