About this property

Osborn House is a spacious, bright and airy holiday cottage located in a prime position in the pretty village of Hope Cove.

This delightful village is a popular location for a relaxing break, with a village pub, shop and café, not to mention two sandy beaches, all within a short walk of Osborn House. The South West Coast Path - for stunning coastal walks including to South Milton Sands, Thurlestone, Soar Mill Cove and beyond - can be accessed quickly and easily from the house.

Osborn House is positioned at the end of a row of privately owned former coastguard cottages, providing comfortable, well presented accommodation ideally set up for families or couples (with our without a small dog!), looking for a traditional coastal retreat for a seaside holiday.

The property offers lovely views over the beach and out to sea, best enjoyed from the rear bedrooms and garden. Enjoy long leisurely meals in the large kitchen with separate dining area, before relaxing in the comfortable lounge or separate sitting room. The property also has a utility room and cloakroom on the ground floor, and upstairs there are four bedrooms, accommodating eight people; one double, one double and single and two twin bedded rooms. There is also a shower room and family bathroom.

With the added benefit of parking for one car, and a beautiful enclosed garden to the rear with a table and chairs for al fresco dining, this really is a fabulous retreat for a break with your family and dog.

The picturesque fishing village of Hope Cove lies in a sheltered bay on South Devon’s coastline, offering superb views over Bigbury Bay and Burgh Island. A choice destination for families, two beaches offer soft sand for sandcastle building, plus rock pools great for entertaining children. The town remains a fishing village where crabs and lobsters are still landed, however it was once used by smugglers. Many ships have perished around the coast and the wrecks that lie beneath the waves make it a popular spot for divers. Above the beach there are a number of pubs and restaurants, including the popular café bar ‘The Cove’. The coastal footpath can be joined from here and leads towards the sandy beaches of Thurlestone and Bigbury-on-Sea in one direction, and the sailing town of Salcombe in the other.

The house was clean, tidy and with all the required facilities that we needed. There was plenty of space for the 7 of us staying and with a kitchen that we could happily all sit down together. Having the village shop + 2 local pubs just a short stroll from the house was great! Overall another great stay at Osborn House and will definitely be back at some point!

We booked again for 2024. Ideal for 3 year old grandchild with the beaches so close and the roadway outside only used by the occupants of the row of cottages. Great walknig for adults and children on the coast path with wonderful views. Fenced garden good for children and dogs. Village shop, pub and bar close by yet still a quiet location. Surprised that there were no stair gates, but we took 2, one to contain dog in utility room at night and one to contain 3 year old in bedroom. The only negative points were that it was not possible to lock, or in some cases unlock some 1st floor windows. Sykes website states parking for one car and we had 2, so knowing the bad reputation of the carpark with people being fined despite having bought tickets, I bought a weekly season on RingGo before leaving home. Inside the cottage there is a notice, saying parking for 2 cars, as indeed there was.
