About this property

Nestled in a quiet position, within a very short walk of Hope Cove’s amenities sits The Look Out. This large detached bungalow provides spacious accommodation for a family of six people.

A fantastic base for exploring the South Hams, the delightful fishing village of Hope Cove has two unspoilt sandy beaches, a village pub, shop and café. A popular location for a relaxing break, whatever the season, the South West Coast Path can be accessed quickly and easily, whilst Bantham, popular with surfers, is just a short drive away. The picturesque town of Salcombe, with its shops, art galleries, restaurants and pretty waterfront, can be reached by car in 10-15 minutes.

The Look Out is furnished to a good standard with lovely gardens and spectacular wide-ranging sea and country views, particularly from the raised patio area - the perfect spot for an al fresco lunch, whilst gazing out over the bay.

The property has a very spacious lounge, a well-equipped kitchen and a separate dining area. There are three bedrooms in total. The first is a newly refurbished master bedroom with 5' bed and en suite bathroom (corner bath, power shower). There is a further twin bedroom and lastly, a bedroom with a single bed and a bunk bed (only bottom bunk to be used). In addition to the en suite, there is a family bathroom with bath and shower, as well as a large shower room.

For those with children, there is plenty of outside space to burn off energy, with a large lawned garden, plus ample parking for two or more cars.

This spacious bungalow offers very desirable accommodation for a family looking to enjoy all South Devon has to offer.

The picturesque and unspoiled village of Hope Cove lies in the sheltered curve of Bigbury Bay on Devon’s south coast. A choice destination for families, the two beaches offering soft sand and rock pools for sandcastle building and fishing for small crabs. The town remains a fishing village where crabs and lobsters are still landed, however it was once used by smugglers. Many ships have perished around the coast and the wrecks that lie beneath the waves make it a popular spot for divers. Above the beach there are a number of pubs and restaurants. The coastal footpath can be joined from here and leads towards Bigbury-on-sea in one direction and the coastal resort of Salcombe in the other.

It is comfortable and cozy, amazing views, and we really like it. However, there were a lot of cracks in the plaster, the main bathroom floor felt very unstable, missing coat hooks and we generally felt the house needed a lot of TLC. The carpets could do with being cleaned or changed and certainly a whole paint job with lighter colours. Curtain rails replaced in the lounge. But it is certainly somewhere we would return to. Our thanks to Coast and Country for the rapid removal of a dead rabbit in the garden and lesson in how to flush the loo. Who knew there was more than one way!!

Well equipped with everything we needed

We were warm enough; the beds were comfy and we enjoyed the terrace in the sunshine. Very well appointed with no passing traffic. The kitchen is superbly equipped and we appreciated the jigsaws etc. Yes, certain areas are a little dated but the positives far outweigh the negatives. I would like to point out that the bungalow is mainly user friendly for older guests with mobility problems, 5 steps up at the front and one interior step, however, our less mobile guests were not able to walk to the village or beach as it is up a hill and too far- and parking is tricky down there- so only a stones throw for most people but out of bounds for anyone with mobility issues, unless you drive down. Apart from this minor point we had a thoroughly enjoyable relaxing time - thank you so much.
