Well laid out for a pair of friends holidaying together with two bathrooms, a large farmhouse table and comfortable chairs for dining. Families can cosy up and watch TV or play games in bad weather. A large hallway a good dumping ground for equipment. Surfers appreciate the outside space for hanging wetsuits and dogs have the coastal footpath right on their doorstep. Chalky Blue also lends itself to the elderly as the accommodation is on one level, once in you can sit in a chair under the veranda tucked up with a blanket and a cuppa whilst the view provides great entertainment with the boating activities including the rnli practice drills, wildlife and ever-changing seas and skies.
Less than 100 metres away from local beaches, a bustling harbour which dates to the 12th century. The water is surrounded by twinkling lights, cafés, fish and chips, pubs and restaurants, including a Michelin star. There are independent shops and art galleries influenced by Damien Hirst’s ’Verity’ statue. The interesting Tunnels beaches with large natural sea pool fabulous for open sea swimming, surrounded by glorious, rugged cliffs. Also sheltered for children with buckets and spades and perfect for wave Jumping. You can leave the car as there is a lot to offer locally, water sport activities like canoeing, SUP centre, coasteering and diving. A short drive offers world-class surfing beaches Woolacombe, Croyde, Putsbourgh. A boat trip to Lundy Island, cruise the exhilarating North Devon coastline, deep sea fishing and sea life safaris to see seals, porpoises and various sea birds. Walk the coast path from Capstone to Lee, Morthoe and Woolacombe, visiting pubs along the way and get a bus return!

Had a lovely time here, always like to visit Devon in the winter time and this outside area to watch the sea and the weather was great! Had everything we needed and a lovely powerful shower in en-suite a bonus. The owner was great when we had a slight issue and arrived within minutes to sort this, thanks again! Only negatives we would say is the same as other people have said that the steps into the flat and steps on the deck area are very slippery especially when raining & perhaps it’s time to have a new sofa. Maybe a pint of milk in the fridge would be nice for a cuppa on arrival! Over all a great stay and will come again. Thank you

We had a lovely week overall at Chalky Blue. The view from the rear over the sea is spectacular. The accommodation had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Shower/bath good, beds ok. Nice touches with a bottle of Prosecco, milk and chocolates on arrival. We concluded that the accommodation probably needed a bit of a refresh. The rear outside area was a bit shabby, furniture a bit tatty and the steps down from the decked area were a little slippy, with no handrail we thought presented a hazard. There are also several steep steps down to the front of the property and again we felt would have benefitted from a handrail especially for my Mum who has some mobility issues. Ilfracombe itself has been affected by shop closures so the town felt a little sad. However, there are nearby places to visit, local restaurants of a high standard and we did have a good week away. 😊

Such a stunning view..Wow..Beautiful quirky appartment.Very clean..comfortable beds..Throughly enjoyed the switch off and soaked the views.Plenty of lovely cafes and pubs..Recommend the Lime Kiln at the harbour..and a visit to Woolacombe..Didn't want to go home Parking permit £56 for the week in Ropery Rd carpark
