About this property

This delightful cottage with accommodation on three floors has many interesting and quirky features. A short walk to the village and just a short drive to the beach, this property is perfect for two families to enjoy a coastal break.

Located close to the centre of the village, you are within easy reach of an array of shops, restaurants, pubs and a park, and public transport links to some great beaches or the market town of Barnstaple. Just outside the town, Braunton Burrows and Crow Point (both under 4 miles) offer the perfect backdrop for scenic walks. Sand, sea and surf can be enjoyed nearby at Saunton (2.5 miles), Woolacombe (7 miles) and Croyde (5 miles). Walking enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with the South West Coastal Path taking you across the spectacular headland to Baggy Point. The Tarka Trail is a cyclist s haven giving easy access to the historic town of Barnstaple (6 miles). Enter the property into a tiled hallway with wood panelled walls. There are stripped wooden doors throughout and many unique, quirky features including the visible wooden beams. The cosy living room with a fireplace in an original stone wall is the perfect place to curl up in front of the TV/DVD and watch a movie. The wood burner effect gas fire here saves you from having to bring in the wood from outside and the two sofas and bean bags allow seating for everyone, so you can sit and admire the surrounding artwork by local artists. There is also a useful utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer and a handy downstairs shower room with a shower and WC. The kitchen/diner is the heart of the home, mixing contemporary appliances with original features. There is a white butler style sink, stripped doors, original beams and a stone tiled floor housing appliances such as an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. A generous oak dining table sits in front of the gorgeous original stone fireplace of the old Temperance Hall, the perfect space to socialise together. Steep winding stairs lead up from this room with a 19th century ship's mast featured at the centre. This leads to the first floor where you will find three bedrooms: one double bedroom with stripped original floorboards, a high ceiling, a large sunny double glazed window, and a feature Victorian fireplace; a further double bedroom again with a high ceiling and ample storage; and a twin room (not a zip and link but can be made into a super king size on request) also with plenty of storage. The family bathroom completes this first floor with a bath with a shower over it and WC. Heading up another cottage style staircase leads you to the second floor master double bedroom which features a skylight, exposed beams (restricted height in certain places, as this is in the eaves of the house) and a small en suite shower room with a shower and WC. Stepping outside, the garden is set over two levels. The ground level courtyard is a mid morning suntrap. Enjoy daybreak coffee at the table, surrounded by plants and herbs as well as the BBQ perfect for summer evenings outdoors. This area is enclosed and gated making it safe for the little ones and your furry friends. There is a hose and washing line for drying wetsuits and beach gear. Walk up the steep steps to a large deck where a table and chairs are waiting so you can enjoy the lovely views over the rooftops, Braunton Burrows, Barnstaple Bay as well as the North Devon coastline including Clovelly and Hartland Point. On street parking nearby (subject to availability).
