Impressive and welcoming, Corffe House is an 18th-century, Grade II listed, Georgian country house and former rectory to the 13th-century church of St Peter from 1801 to 1948. When you stay here you could be forgiven for thinking you are starring in your own episode of Downton Abbey, with its generous sized rooms and sweeping staircase. It is this combined with the modern-day touches, such as the cinema room with pool table and uninterrupted views over the beautiful Devon countryside, that make for an unforgettable stay. Corffe House is ideal for family gatherings and group celebrations due to its idyllic location and first class facilities. With ample reception rooms, nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, the house itself offers both space and character with many charming period features including large sash windows, original shutters, marble fireplaces and ornate coving.

The excellent facilities on-site include an indoor swimming pool with hot tub and children’s paddling pool, 5 acres of grounds and situated on the top grassy area beyond the woodland, there is a goal for any budding Beckhams! Anyone for tennis? Well, there’s also a free all-weather court for you to hit a few balls on! There is a lovely barbecue cabin in the woods which can be hired. During the winter months, you can stay cosy and warm cooking around the fire, and over the summer you can spill out onto the outdoor seating area. If you like pizza, then there’s a regular weekly mobile pizza night brought to the courtyard by a local pizza expert!

Barnstaple is the regional capital where you can have a taste of North Devon life by wandering the streets and river front. The town also offers a leisure centre with swimming pool, a purpose-built tennis centre with indoor and outdoor courts, an indoor trampoline centre and Rock Park.

The location is perfect for exploring North Devon and all its attractions, such as Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies. There are plenty of family-oriented places to visit including Exmoor Zoo, Milky Way Adventure Park, The Big Sheep farm-themed park and many others.

If stunning beaches are your thing, then North Devon will leave you spoilt for choice with Saunton, Woolacombe, Croyde and Westward Ho! The fantastic South West Coast Path runs through the region’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers. The popular Tarka Trail can be accessed from the town centre, which will take you through Fremington Quay, with its excellent café, and Instow, with its estuary beach and view towards the lovely fishing village of Appledore.
