Cosy up in this cute-as-a-button shepherd’s hut and lodge in the heart of Devon. Situated at the end of a long farm lane, it offers an amazing location with fabulous countryside views. The rustic wooden structures provide cosy living and sleeping spaces yet open the doors and you have acres of prime Devon countryside at your feet. Outside, sit back in the hot tub, breathe out and let the stresses of life melt away.
When you first step inside the hut and lodge, you’ll be amazed at how the spaces have been put together. The lodge has a seating area and corner kitchen (bathroom facilities are next door) - you simply have to step out to the deck to drink in the views from the sun loungers or hot tub. Next door is the beautifully-furnished bedroom in the shepherd’s hut, with its very own wood burner for chilly nights.
Though it will be hard to leave, you will need provisions, so pop into Bickleigh (3 miles) and visit the mill with its boutique shops and artisan foods. The historic town of Tiverton (4 miles) makes an unforgettable day out, with a fascinating horse-drawn barge, one of the only ones in the UK. Keen historians will love the atmospheric former royal fortress of Tiverton Castle, commissioned by Henry I in 1106 and open from Easter until the end of October.
