About this property

3 West Street is a charming mid-terrace cottage in Bampton, Devon and offering a romantic escape at any time of year, or even as a base for a solo traveller. With a delightful garden to the rear and local amenities just a short stroll away, the cottage is ideally located with a traditional cottage décor running throughout. On arrival at the cottage, park your car just outside and step into the spacious hallway to hang your coats and kick off your shoes. The kitchen lies to your right and offers all the appliances you need to whip up tasty meals, along with a handy washing machine. From here, make your way to the living/dining room where you can gather at the dining table to plan your day's events over a hearty breakfast. When you return from an adventurous day out, light the woodburning stove and flick on the Smart TV to settle in for the evening and relax. When sleep calls, climb the stairs to the bedroom to get some rest in the double bedroom; home to plenty of storage to unpack your belongings and a selection of books, why not use the space to escape for a peaceful hour of reading? Completing the interior is a bathroom with both a bath and a shower. Back on the ground floor, patio doors from the living/dining room allow plenty of light and air into the space, while stepping out into the garden, you will find a lovely patio and lawned area where you can savour your morning coffee. Give yourself a break from cooking and enjoy a lunch at Bridge House, a contemporary British restaurant lying just a short stroll away in the centre of the village. Or treat yourself to breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea at Toucan Café Bistro, just a 6 minute walk away from the property. Perhaps if you prefer a more relaxed dinner, you can pop to the local shops for the essentials, or even head to the nearby Bampton Fish Bar to enjoy while sitting along the delightful River Batherm. For days out while at 3 West Street, there are plenty of charming stately homes and manicured gardens to discover, including Cothay Manor & Gardens, a Medieval Grade I listed manor home encompassed by romantic lawns, flora and foliage. The National Trust also takes care of the spectacular Knightshayes Court, which is just a short car journey away and boasts a stunning Victorian manor home, while Hestercombe House & Gardens provides a wonderfully tranquil space to explore, including temples, lakes and formal beds and truly charming views across the gardens. For a more adventurous day out, there are many footpaths to explore both locally and further afield. Head into the Exmoor National Park for an abundance of walking and cycling opportunities, within the magnificent landscapes and scenery of the National Park. And the beautiful coastline is only 30/40 minutes away in the car. 3 West Street is a charming base for a romantic getaway at any time of year.

The wonderfully peaceful village of Bamptom is situated alongside the lovely River Batherm in Devon. Kitchen was well equipped, also a good selection of herbs, spices and olive oils supplied. Lovely views from the sitting room out over the back garden towards the hills.

Well equipped and location was good. Only bad bit was hairs on kitchen worktops and crumbs under the toaster. The bath had hairs in it as well.

Beautifully appointed house with peaceful outlook across the distant hills. One of the best cottages we've stayed in over the years, with thoughtful touches that made the holiday special.
