In Devon countryside, almost equidistant from the historic town of Ottery St Mary in the east and cathedral city of Exeter to the west, is Broadclyst Cottage, one of two single-storey semi-detached cottages that sit next to the owner's farmhouse and share the use of the outdoor heated swimming pool (May to end of August) and an outside area for children to play. All one level, Broadclyst Cottage is an excellent countryside base; inside is a compact kitchen area and good-sized dining/sitting room complete with TV/DVD and patio doors, leading to a small private lawned garden and patio with furniture. You can cosy up and relax in the sitting room before heading to one of the two bedrooms, comprising of a king-size double bed (zip/link, can be made into a twin) and a vanity unit, the other a bunk bedroom, ideal for children. Broadclyst Cottage is a convenient base for a holiday with much to occupy on site and in the surrounding area. The nearest village and pub at Rockbeare is less than a mile away, while a greater selection of shops and pubs can be found in Whimple, approximately three miles away. Ottery St Mary, known as "Ottery", is a town in the East Devon district of Devon, just 14 miles away from Exeter. The town is famous for its literary connections to the poet Coleridge and for its church often referred to as a Exeter cathedral lookalike.The town also plays host to 'Tar Barrels' which attracts more than 3000 visitors on 5th November each year, as well as pubs and plenty of individual shops.

    The cottage is well located for visiting the coast or inland. Although the kitchen is compact it worked for us and had everything we required.
