About this property

This big and beautiful farmhouse is located ¾ mile from Farway, beside the owner's’ cottage on a 335 acre farm in the hamlet of Woodbridge. With ancient origins, it is a characterful and welcoming house for friends and families of all ages. The sitting room is a cosy room with an electric fire. In true country style, the kitchen is huge and at the hub of the house with a Rayburn, a lovely room to gather and socialise in. This is a great house for the children, with toys in the playroom and a tiny games room. Upstairs, the five bedrooms ramble over three levels, as high as the attic.

Outside you are welcome to help feed the calves and enjoy the miles of unspoiled countryside with a river for paddling and tiddler fishing, ponds, great views and walks and quiet roads. In the pretty garden, shared with the owners, is a picnic table, barbecue, giant draughts, shallow stream, play castle, sandpit and Wendy house. To complete the idyllic family scene is a fun games barn. There is plenty on this lovely farm to keep you occupied, but if you choose to venture further afield there are the Blackdown Hills to explore, the Seaton Tramway for rides through a nature reserve and the fossil hunting beaches of the Jurassic Coast.

Hornshayne Farmhouse is a magical location for enjoying a traditional farm holiday and the lovely surroundings.

Honiton is a delightful market town in East Devon, with plenty to offer visitors. It lies in the valley of the River Otter and is surrounded by rolling Devon hills, green wooded valleys and plenty of scattered farming villages.

The grand children enjoyed interacting with the animals, feeding new born calves, lambs, goats pigs and chickens. A great lesson about the countryside for all. Easy reach of the seaside towns and other attractions such as Digger Land. Access roads to the farmhouse are single track but we hardly met another vehicle coming the other way but caution needed.

The house and facilities are second to none. There is ample space for children and teenagers to hang out in the garden and games room and the grown-ups could relax in peace. The owners are delightful and very helpful and attentive. The working farm welcomes visitors and all the staff were happy to chat to us about the work of the farm and animal care. The children had an amazing time watching calving and were encouraged to help feed the calves. We were also highly entertained by the antics of the goats! The location is out of the way but in easy reach of the lovely attractions of North Devon. Breakfast on Beer Beach is not to be missed, even in the rain!

The house is very spacious and comfortable and you are surrounded on all sides by rolling fields. We woke up each day to the natural sounds of the countryside. So peaceful. The farmer and his wife are very welcoming and gave us free range to roam the farm and their fields. We enjoyed collecting the eggs and seeing the cows being milked. My granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor play area too. They kindly provided her with new sand. We hope to go back again next year.
