Snaptrip says

Driftwood Cottage in Exmouth, Devon, is highly praised for its comfort, stunning views, and prime location close to the marina, beach, and town. Guests appreciate the friendly and helpful owner, the well-stocked amenities, and the thoughtful welcome treats. While there are minor cleanliness and maintenance issues, the overall experience is very relaxing and recommended for a delightful stay.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property is generally well-maintained, with guests finding it clean and comfortable. However, there were some cleanliness issues noted, such as tea stains and an unchecked tumble dryer, which slightly mar the overall high standards.

The location is exceptional, with easy access to the marina, beach, shops, and railway station. The convenience of nearby parking and the ability to enjoy the area without the need for a car are highly valued by guests.

Guests find the property very comfortable, with ample space for larger groups and cosy areas to enjoy the views. The provision of daily parking permits adds to the comfort and convenience of the stay.

The property is well-equipped with nice cutlery, crockery, and kitchen appliances. However, some maintenance issues like low water pressure in the showers and the absence of a mop for cleaning are noted.

The owner's thoughtfulness is evident from the welcome pack and hot drink items provided on arrival. While such gestures are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that these gifts are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

This three-storey, Victorian terrace house sits on a residential street right next to the beach, in the heart of Exmouth, Devon. Benefitting from private beach access and uninterrupted sea views, Driftwood is an excellent choice for a family of five and their canine companion looking to spend some time exploring the beauty of Devon. Internally, the ground-floor features an open-plan living space hosting all the amenities for a week-away; take over the kitchen and start preparing a delicious home-cooked feast, making use of a range of appliances, before gathering at the dining table and indulging in a feast. Afterwards, head to the sofa and binge watch your favourite shows from the Smart TV, or take the evening outside and enjoy a drink from the enclosed garden. At the rear of the garden is your own private access to the beach, so you’ll hardly have to leave the house before dipping your toes in the sand! The first flight of stairs leads to the bathroom with bath and shower over, whilst there are also three bedrooms, including a four-poster double bedroom and then a twin and double which can be combined to make a family suite or closed off separately. The second floor plays host to two more doubles, one which enjoys an en-suite shower whilst the other features sliding French doors to a private balcony with bistro table and chairs. Within a short walk there is a plethora of independent shops selling gifts to take back home, restaurants and pubs for when you fancy eating out and a cinema and theatre for some evening entertainment. Those looking to get their steps in can lace up their boots and ramble up to 26 miles along the Exe Cycle trail linking Lympstone with Exeter, Exmouth, Topsham and Dawlish as well as the South West Coastal Path which is the longest National Trail in the country. Further along, the city attractions of Exeter await, including its stunning cathedral and quay which make for an excellent day out, whilst the World of Country Life and Crealy Theme Park are both great choices for family adventure. If you are seeking a substantial home right next to the beach, look no further than Driftwood.

Exmouth, which is located on the eastern side of the River Exe estuary, contains all a traveller needs for a leisurely getaway. A flourishing coastal town with miles of sand beaches nearby, excellent coastal walking, everything for fishermen and sailors, proximity to Exeter, and a wealth of things to do and see all add to the town's appeal. The Crealy Park theme park, Bicton Park stately home and gardens, the Donkey Sanctuary at nearby Sidmouth, Woodbury Common, the cathedral city of Exeter, the Sandy Bay World of Country Life, and the endlessly captivating Jurassic Coast with its famous fossil deposits stretching eastward into Dorset are all options in addition to messing around on boats, relaxing on the beach, taking the ferry up the estuary, or visiting Dawlish Warren nature reserve. Exmouth has some of the best tourist attractions and a seaside lifestyle around.

The parking was convenient, in the road directly outside the house and the provision of daily parking permits was much appreciated. The house is nicely situated for access to the beach, shops and Railway Station. Ron Peel

A few cleanliness issues. The tumble dryer hadn't been checked since previous Occupants and therefore hadn't been cleaned out and there were tea stains all down the drawers next to the fridge. The water pressure in the showers is very low and slow. There also wasn't a Mop provided so we couldn't wash the kitchen floor during our stay. The front and back door key should be separate and maybe provide a security box at the back so you can walk back along the beach and up the steps at the back of the property. Lovely touch to leave us items to make a hot drink on our arrival and the biscuits went down a treat. We didn't bother trying to park down the street as the car park at the end of the road is only a 3 minute walk and it's perfectly safe to leave you car there. In fact we never used our cars during our stay and it was quicker and easier to use the train. Car park was only £8 for 24 hours.
