Harvey Cottage is a well-equipped, comfortable property in Colyton, praised for its cleanliness and quiet atmosphere. Guests appreciate the local amenities, including pubs and shops, and find it a great base for exploring East Devon. The main challenge noted is parking, with on-street options limited but manageable.
Guests consistently describe the cottage as clean and well-maintained, with only one mention of a musty smell which could be an isolated incident.
The location is appreciated for its proximity to local amenities and as a base for exploring the area. However, parking difficulties due to narrow streets slightly affect the score.
The cottage is frequently described as comfortable, warm, and quiet, with a well-appointed kitchen and a pleasant bath. One review mentioned it being gloomy even with lights on, which slightly impacts the score.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and good communication for heating assistance. The absence of a large saucepan and a misunderstanding about the EV charging point are minor drawbacks.
There are no mentions of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the host, so this category cannot be scored.

A lovely cottage in the heart of a great little town/village. Clean throughout and well appointed. Whilst the decor is a little dated that’s the only slight negative I’d give. Great communication with our host. No parking outside as the road is narrow, but we easily found a space just a few hundred yards away to park up. Both pubs in the village are great, with The kingfisher having such a good menu we ate there all week. Would not hesitate to return when next in the area.

Cottage was well equipped and Colyton was a good location for holiday in Devon. Local walks were good. The main problem is lack of parking for the cottage and within the centre of Colyton. The cottage is on a narrow street, with only minimal on-street parking. To unload I had to block the street (which was OK as it was 11.30 pm) otherwise I would have had to park a long way away and carry luggage. As it was I then had to park about 400 yards away after crawling around the town looking for somewhere. Another night I put it in the pay and display car park in town (500 yards away). Other times I parked down the road (100 yards). Be aware that parking is a problem, especially for unloading/loading.

Lovely place to stay for a week, and a great base for exploring East Devon. It was very quiet at night. It was warm and comfortable (larger downstairs than it looks in the pictures), and well equipped for all we needed. The information and instructions about everything were clear. The fridge/Freezer was large and very useful for us. The one thing lacking in the kitchen was a large saucepan - they were all quite small, but otherwise there was everything we needed, as we cooked most of our own meals. As per other reviews parking can be a bit of a challenge, but we never needed to use the public car park, always finding somewhere in the road or round the corner.
