About this property

Located in the picturesque village of Kilmington, Jasmine Cottage is a pretty, pet-friendly cottage in Devon. The property is located in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Beauty for a family of four's rural retreat, with easy access to local amenities and the coast. After parking in the roadside parking, follow the path up to the picturesque cottage and be immediately welcomed by a charming sitting room; it's the perfect spot to unwind after the day's adventures, complete with a woodburning stove for added comfort, whilst you curl up on the sofa with a good book or your favourite show on the TV. The sofa bed also sleeps one extra guest for flexible sleeping arrangements. Unpack your self-catering essentials in the kitchen/diner and rustle up home-cooked meals using the excellent amenities, including an electric oven, hob and a washing machine to quickly clean your walking gear for the next day. Jasmine Cottage also features beautiful, original flagstone flooring and a door closing off the stairs in the kitchen/diner, making for a pet-friendly holiday home for muddy paws! During the summer months, make dinner an alfresco affair and enjoy some quality family time in the rear garden; your canine companion has plenty of space to bask in the sunlight, whilst you settle into the outdoor seating under the sheltered patio. When it's time to rest, climb the stairs to wash the day away in the shower room, before choosing between two well-appointed bedrooms: a king-size and a single, both with built-in storage space for your belongings. Start your day with a stroll around Kilmington and admiring your picture-postcard setting, where nearby pubs serve well-earned drinks and traditional pub dinners, and the local convenience store offers the self-catering essentials. There is also a farm shop within walking distance with a cafe to enjoy. Take a short journey to Axminster, a larger market town with a variety of eateries from Mediterranean to Indian, as well as the Axminster Heritage Centre for discovering local history. With the beauty of East Devon on your doorstep, walkers and wildlife lovers will be in their element; wander through heathland and wooded valleys scattered with nature reserves, such as Lower Bruckland Farm and Holyford Woods, whilst the breath-taking Jurassic coast is a must for unforgettable coastal paths. Lyme Regis perfect for a family day out by the sea with the Dinosaurland Fossil Museum, Monmouth Beach and Langmoor and Lister gardens for the best picnic spots, whilst Seaton is just a little further south; pack your clubs for a game at Axe Cliff Golf Club, ride the vintage tramlines along Seaton Tramway and stop for lunch at The Hideaway overlooking the idyllic shingle beach. Choose Jasmine Cottage as your home-away-from-home to discover the delights of Devon.

This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. If you want to stay in a cozy cottage, that is well furnished & decorated, this is worth considering. Close to idyllic coastal & inland villages within 5 - 20 miles. A very friendly Pub with friendly Owners, staff & locals. Drink & Food highly recommended. Local shop (Farm Shop) minutes away in car or 10 minutes walking is a place to visit. You can have breakfast, lunch as well as stock up with local produce 10/10. Friendly neighbours either side. With warmer days coming, if not arrived, the garden ideal to sit out & enjoy a cuppa/beverage in a peaceful environment. Negatives, well not for us, but it doesn’t have a bath, the shower is very good. Some of the places we visited, Exeter 25 miles, Seaton 6.5 miles, Lyme Regis 7 miles, Charmouth 7.5 miles, Branscombe 8.5 miles & Beer 8.5 miles away – Google Maps directions. So many others. My wife & I really enjoyed this cottage & village. Our dog also gives it 10/10. Robert

Generous supply of wood for the log burner and a lovely welcome hamper and milk on arrival. Towels provided are of a high quality and a fabulous size! Only a 15 minute drive to Lyme Regis or Seaton and the lovely Axe Valley Wildlife Park is also very close, as is a fabulous farm shop. Although parking is listed as 'first come, first served', we had no trouble finding a space all week. There are some beautiful walks around Kilmington and we also visited Exeter and the Donkey Sanctuary, neither of which took very long to get to. We would highly recommend Jasmine Cottage and hope to go back sometime soon.

The owners have put a lot of thought into making it a comfortable base. It is located in a lovely village which is well positioned for lots of local seaside towns and is surrounded by stunning countryside. The bed linen and towels were of superior quality and much appreciated. There was also a very nice welcome pack of goodies. The cottage was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The bathroom is very small and basic but the shower worked well and was hot. Unfortunately the garden was not dog proof, our little Jack Russell slipped through the picket fence with ease into next door’s garden! The neighbours were very nice but had Guinea pigs which Betsy was anxious to get hold of! Consequently we couldn’t let her in the garden unless on her lead which was a shame. The property did not have any logs or starter pack for the wood burner as advertised. This was disappointing as we had been looking forward to using this especially on a cool wet day. Finally, the property is advertised as having a washing machine but there is no laundry basket, pegs or washing line!
