Guests say

Back Of Beyond in Cornwall receives high praise for its cleanliness, stunning location, and comfort. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, including an Aga, and the thoughtful touches like cream teas and fresh flowers. The large garden with sea views is a highlight, although one review mentioned it's not fully enclosed for dogs. Some found the Aga made the cottage warm in hot weather, but it's ideal for cooler days. The hosts are described as welcoming and helpful, contributing to the property's charm.

The property consistently receives accolades for its cleanliness, with multiple reviews highlighting its well-maintained and spotless condition. This suggests a high standard of cleanliness that guests greatly appreciate.

The location is frequently described as perfect, with sea views and proximity to pubs and scenic walks. Its peacefulness and accessibility to local attractions like St Ives and Penzance are also appreciated, although one review mentioned it's a bit remote.

Guests find the cottage very comfortable, with a warm and homely feel. The large garden adds to the comfort, although a few guests mentioned the heat from the Aga as a discomfort during warmer weather.

The property is praised for its well-equipped facilities, including the kitchen's Aga and the provision of wireless chargers. However, there are a few mentions of the Aga making the property too warm and a temperamental dishwasher, slightly affecting the score.

Many reviews express gratitude for the thoughtful gestures, such as cream teas, fresh flowers, and welcome treats. While these gifts are highly appreciated, it's important to note that such personal touches, although common, are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Located on the road between St Ives and Lands End in beautiful rugged west Cornwall, this former barn offers the most fabulous panoramic sea vista from its cliff top location. Remote and wild, a stay here is a true escape from everyday life; a haven for ramblers, rock climbers and artists or indeed anyone seeking peaceful seclusion, reflection and relaxation. Beautifully adapted to a welcoming and comfortable holiday home, Back of Beyond offers an excellent standard of accommodation. With underfloor heating and a wood burning stove, its not just for summer; in fact it makes a wonderfully cosy sanctuary from where to watch the winter storms whip up the Atlantic.

The spacious lounge is equipped with a Smart TV and a selection of books and games, and the homely kitchen diner comes complete with a warming AGA. Two luxuriously restful bedrooms, both en-suite - promise deep sleep after a long day out in the sea air. Outside, a sunny patio boasts 180 degree views of the ocean, extending out to a large lawned garden bordered by Cornish hedges and farm gates. The land surrounding Back of Beyond is quite stunning; mysterious, windswept moorland peppered with gorse, engine house ruins and ancient stone circles and quoits. It would be easy to spend a week cosied up in this little refuge, but if you choose to venture further, there is much to see and do in the local area.

For a truly unique experience, don't miss the open-air Minack Theatre, carved into the cliff face by local landowner Rowena Cade in the early 1930s. Captivating St Michaels Mount is just a short drive away, and Lands End with its iconic signpost is also within easy reach. Lovers of good food and drink should also be sure to visit the Gurnards Head gastro-pub, just a short stroll from the barn.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!
