The Old Smithy is a deceptively spacious and very comfortable detached holiday property, sitting in the gorgeous hamlet of Penelewey on the outskirts of Feock, in a prestigious creek side location. The area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty with woodland and rural views. The cathedral city of Truro with theatre, cinema, great shopping, and an abundance of restaurants, cafés and bars is a 5-minute drive.

The cottage is on the road to the King Harry ferry, linking Feock to the Roseland Peninsula. Visit St Mawes with Henry VII Castle overlooking Carrick Roads, the famous Fal River and Estuary, and Pendennis Castle which is on the Falmouth Peninsula. Falmouth, The National Maritime Museum, is just a short 15-minute drive with its busy port and harbour, bustling marinas, and is host to numerous prestigious sailing and yachting events. Foodies love Falmouth, as it is home to many famous fish restaurants, great bars and cafés dotted along the marina. Events Square has many alfresco dining areas and stages high profile events throughout the year.

Take one of the ferries or water taxis to visit St Mawes, Flushing or the picturesque Helford River. Go on a wildlife safari to watch dolphins, basking sharks, seals and an abundance of marine wildlife. The area is great for golfers, walkers, sailors, water sports enthusiasts, or those seeking a relaxing holiday, soaking up some of Cornwall’s best beaches, including the award-winning Gyllyngvase Beach at Falmouth.

The Old Smithy is perfectly located for exploring many hidden delights, including Loe Beach, ideal for kayaking, canoeing and sailing. The area boasts some of the UK’s best sub-tropical gardens, including Trelissick Gardens, which is just a mile down the road, or Trebah and Durgan, which are located close to the Helford River. The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan are also within easy driving distance.

There is a quintessential English pub just a short stroll away, which serves excellent local food and ale. The nearby creek side village of Devoran also offers great pubs and restaurants. The famous cycle trail runs from Devoran on the south coast to Portreath on the north coast. Bike hire is available locally. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

The cottage was spotless, spacious and very welcoming and homely. The only thing was that the description of the bedrooms are incorrect on your website. The details say that there are two bedrooms on the ground floor and one on the first floor whereas, in fact, there is only the double en suite on the ground floor and the twin bedroom and the other double on the first. The bathroom for the twin bedroom is on the ground floor. This was OK as far as we were concerned but not for anyone wanting two bedrooms downstairs. We would certainly book this again if we were holidaying in that area again. The owner was really nice and helpful.

Perfect for our purposes. A delightful cottage, well maintained and with helpful and engaged owners. Very near a good pub and Trelissick NT. Close to Truro and Falmouth and easy enough to get to the north coast. We will return.
