About this property

Tregony 3.3 miles. Ideally positioned for exploring south Cornwall, on the stunning Roseland Peninsula, is this beautifully transformed barn conversion. Glebe Barn is part of a working farm with cattle, ponies and hens and you can even purchase some pedigree beef from the owner's for a special home-cooked meal to be enjoyed during your stay. The property has been designed with a touch of opulence throughout and offers a wonderful holiday cottage for families, boasting a wonderful garden, spacious living areas and a plethora of things to do nearby. Enter the property via the sleek conservatory, where a seating arrangement is positioned so that you can enjoy your morning coffee whilst admiring the beauty of the garden. Step into the sitting room, where the feature hearth fireplace takes centre stage before the plush sofa, armchairs, TV and dining table. In here, you can admire the lawn garden or open up the patio doors to allow a cool breeze to filter in during the summer months, offering a sense of tranquillity. Certain to entice any budding chefs of the group is the contemporary kitchen, where a striking Range cooker and other essentials invite you in to rustle up a tasty meal, which can be enjoyed at the farmhouse-style dining table. As the evening draws to a close, make your way upstairs to find the master bedroom, which features a large built-in wardrobe and a king-size bed, complemented by the refreshing colour palette of blue tones and a picture window offering delightful views of Ruan Creek, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to a variety of birds and wildlife. Concluding the first floor is a twin bedroom with a zip/link option and a single bedroom, offering a flexible sleeping arrangement to suit the needs of your group. To the exterior, look forward to enjoying a spot of alfresco dining within the enclosed courtyard or stretch your legs on the lawn area, which leads onto the marshes of Ruan Creek, originally a deep water creek but has slowly silted up over time. If you can tear yourself away from this superb abode, discover the historic Ruan Lanihorne, which dates as far back as the 5th century and at one time was a port where ships would supply coal and timber to the surrounding area, and nowadays offers a delightful Cornish pub and lovely riverside walks along the Fal. Alternatively, venture into Tregony, affectionately known as the gateway to Roseland, which offers fascinating architecture, from its unique clock tower to its 17th century almshouses and 12th century Norman castle, located on Tregony Hill. Between Tregony and Ruan Lanihorne, you will find some wonderful woodland and riverside walking trails, where you can expect to see a variety of birdlife, as this area is particularly popular with ornithologists. Pendower Beach is a 10-minute drive from the property, offering a safe sandy beach with excellent swimming and watersports opportunities such as kayaking. For a larger selection of amenities, head to the city of Truro, with its excellent shopping opportunities and its grand Victorian Cathedral and a museum of local history. Attractions within the surrounding area include the National Trust property of Trelissick Garden, with its floral displays and riverside trails, as well as the famous Lost Gardens Heligan and Eden Project. Whilst here, be sure to explore the Roseland Peninsula, where you will be delighted by the rocky headlands, quiet coves, a host of pretty villages which includes Portscatho and St Mawes, and a good choice of safe sandy beaches, while a short ferry ride will bring you to Falmouth, where you can discover a spectacular harbour, a choice of fantastic beaches, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall and Pendennis Castle, overlooking the coast and built by Henry VIII. Glebe Barn is the perfect property for that Cornish holiday that you’ve been dreaming of.
