About this property

Located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, charming Castle Cottage in the quaint and peaceful village of Ruan Lanihorne on the Roseland Peninsula, is part of a small terrace of houses, next to the village Reading Room. Set over two floors and sleeping up to six guests in delightful charm and comfort, it is a lovely, colourful property for both friends and families. Opening into the cosy living room with real fire and through to the stylish well-equipped kitchen, the back door leads out onto the enclosed courtyard, perfect for lazy lunches. On the first floor are three delightfully presented bedrooms, one double bedroom, one spacious twin bedroom and one bunk bedroom and a modern white family bathroom. Outside, to the rear is an enclosed courtyard with table and chairs and to the front, across the road is a parking area for two cars. There is a local hostelry within a short walk and bird lovers will enjoy watching the waders and waterfowl on the creek. Elsewhere to explore on the Roseland are the attractive villages of Veryan, Tregony (nearest local shop) and Portscatho as well as the town of St Mawes, or why not take a bucket and spade to one of the glorious beaches; Carne, Pendower or Portholland all a short drive away. The city of Truro is just 10 miles by car. Castle Cottage is ideal for a relaxing holiday and perfectly located for exploring the beautiful Roseland Peninsula at any time of year.

Ruan Lanihorne is a village in south Cornwall. The village is situated approximately four miles east-southeast of Truro between the River Fal and its tributary the Ruan River. Ruan Lanihorne lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the same status and protection as a National Park. Ruan Lanihorne, as the name of the parish is spelled, is entirely rural in character with wooded areas in the river valleys. It is bounded to the north by Tregoney, to the east by Veryan. The village was, from the mid 12th century onwards, the site of an adulterine castle of the Lercedekne family. Before the castle was demolished in the 19th century, it was described as having a 40 ft high keep, seven or eight towers and possibly an outer court.
