This family friendly, country cottage enjoys distant sea views and serves as the perfect escape for exploring the stunning Cornish coast with the entire family. Magpie Cottage is located a short distance from the quaint and picturesque fishing village of Port Isaac and the pretty cove of Port Gaverne. A short drive away is the water sports haven of Rock and the popular Polzeath Beath; or hop on the boat across to the vibrant fishing village of Padstow.
Charmingly refurbished, this beautiful cottage provides exceptional accommodation including a comfortable sitting room with original slate floor, beamed ceiling and a cosy wood burning stove. The slate floor and beams continue through to the well-equipped kitchen which features a decorative Aga, in keeping with the timeless character. Wander further into the dining room where there is second cosy wood burning stove, dining table with ample seating for all guests and french doors lead out to the sunny patio area, complete with a barbecue and garden furniture, creating the perfect setting for al-fresco dining. A small study also leads off from the kitchen and is ideal for when you need to catch up on some emails or simply find a quiet space. One of the three king-size bedrooms is located on the ground floor and enjoys its own en-suite shower room and access out to the large lawned garden. Upstairs are two additional king-size bedrooms, both with their own en-suite shower rooms.
The historic village of Port Isaac is a perfect choice for your quintessential Cornish escape with its quaint working harbour and two fresh fish shops. Foodies be sure to head for one (or both) of Nathan Outlaw's Michelin star fish restaurants, however, there are plenty of cafés, pubs and restaurants to choose from here and in Port Gaverne. Keen walkers will enjoy the coastal path to Tintagel or Port Isaac, both easily accessible from Magpie Cottage. For surfers, Trebarwith Strand is less than four miles away. There really is something for everyone from the wonderful base of Magpie Cottage.

Lovely location, beautiful house. Can be a bit cold in Maytime due to the old stone cottage walls. But was plenty of blankets to help keep us warm. Low ceilings for a tall man meant a few head bumps but it was a beautiful cottage. Just be aware if you are tall lots of places to bang heads. Lovely holiday indeed. Welcome gift was beautiful. We did have a blocked toilet but I phoned and let a message on the bank holiday Monday, expecting it not to be picked up till the Tuesday (plenty of other toilets) to find later that day it had been sorted on the Bank holiday Monday. So super impressed. Highly recommend this accomodation.

Magpie Cottage was very clean and the kitchen and bathroom facilities were very good. However, we thought it was unsuitable for older people with mobility issues and families with very young children. This was not mentioned on the website. In fact we were surprised that it had passed all Health and Safety regulations mostly because of the many different levels and steps with no handrails. The exits to the main staircase up to bedrooms 2 and 3 were particularly dangerous and as three of our party were over 80 years old we found it extremely challenging! Also we had not realised that we would be on such a busy junction and it was certainly not peaceful because of heavy fast moving traffic. For these reasons we would not recommend Magpie Cottage. P.S Have toilet roll holders not reached Cornwall yet?
