About this property

Lowenna 5 is a beautifully-furnished, mid-terrace home with a balcony, private garden and parking, well-positioned in Rock, North Cornwall. Spacious enough for two families, this self-catering, three-storey property sleeps up to ten guests, resting near Rock’s waterfront with its sailing club, ski school, pubs, cafes, and restaurants, accessed via a lovely stroll across Porthilly Cove. Lowenna 5 offers versatile bedroom arrangements, with two super-king-size bedrooms (zip/link) with en-suites, two twins with zip/link, and a single bedroom, with a pull-out bed underneath; a great room for children to share. The open-plan living area has elegant, contemporary decoration with interesting finishing touches; an inspiring and relaxing space in which to unwind from after an energetic day on the water. Doors to the garden open out into a sunny paved terrace; a private, pretty place to enjoy a Cornish cream tea perhaps? The fashionable resort of Rock is a fabulous holiday haven; with beautiful views from Rock waterfront across the estuary to Padstow and further out to sea, the area is a subject favoured by many artists. Indeed, the Camel estuary is within the official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with coastal walks recognised as a popular pleasure; fairly level, easy walking can be found between Rock and Polzeath, or continue towards Port Quin and beyond for more challenging paths with steep ascents and descents. A popular stretch of water, sailors rise to the challenge of the tides and sandbanks; there is usually a more sheltered spot to be found for novices, whilst the sailing school provides dinghies for hire, as well as lessons. Enjoy your next coastal break at Lowenna 5.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.

Big dining table that fit all of us. The kitchen is well equipped - we cooked seafood twice. It has a coffee machine that takes nespresso capsules and a milk frother. In the under-the-stairs cupboard there is clothes drying rack, baby bouncer and soft mat. Dedicated car park space right outside the front door, with the 2nd visitor parking space just a few steps further. The location is brilliant as well, fabulous farm shop, bakery, butcher and fishmonger all within 10mins walk. The beach is about 20m walk downhill (so much longer coming back!) The only down side for us was the beds were very soft from long term usage. So if you suffer from a bad back you might want to bring your own mattress topper. Lastly, not the property's fault, but just a note from personal (fussy) experience - if you are light fussy sleeper like me, bring an eye mask and earplugs. All the bedrooms have wooden shutters, not curtains. The main bedroom (with the balcony) faces east, so it gets quite bright very early. And the birds start chirping on the big tree right by the property very early too (comes with being in the countryside). All very easy remedy for a more comfortable stay. We have bookmarked this property for our future visits to Cornwall. All 9 of us enjoyed our stay very much.

We did report this to John Bray on the first day and it never got repaired. Also maintance is required on the guttering it's leaking badly onto the balcony when it rains at night it will keep you awake. One more thing the shared bathroom has a very squeaky handle. To be able to recycle paper and plastic would be ideal. Nothing major and we will definitely stay again.

The bedrooms were large and roomy with very comfortable beds. The living area had plenty of room for the eight of us and the kitchen met all our culinary needs. We would definitely go back for another holiday.
