About this property

The Wrens is a well-appointed, family holiday home, situated in a marvellous position in the heart of Polzeath, one of North Cornwall’s seaside gems. Accommodating up to eight guests, this chic and stylish property is both inviting and sophisticated, providing a great base to kick back and relax, or for exploring the beaches and bays nearby. As you arrive at The Wrens, you will immediately be impressed by the sweeping tiered garden before you, boasting exceptional views across Polzeath and out to sea. Inside, you are sure to fall in love with the open-plan living space, situated at the heart of the home, where the whole family can convene and socialise; the room features a unique curved kitchen, complete with a wine fridge, a dining area, and a sitting area with a contemporary woodburning stove. After a busy day, retiring to bed couldn’t be easier, as three of the four bedrooms are on the ground floor, including two twin rooms with single beds, which can be configured as king-size double rooms on request, providing flexible accommodation, as well as a further double with a small en-suite shower room. Head upstairs to find the final bedroom with a super king-size bed and en-suite with a large shower, basin and WC – a delightful bedroom with excellent views. Outside, there is not only the very special tiered garden, but also a spacious terrace with garden furniture, meaning you can spend long evenings dining outside and watching the sun set on the horizon. Wander down into Polzeath where you can enjoy amazing surfing opportunities or take the children down for mammoth sandcastle building competitions – and if you love lazy days by the seaside, the amazing beaches don’t stop there. Daymer Bay, Newquay and Port Quinn are all within a short drive – or why not take to the coast path for coves galore! Further afield is Wadebridge, where you can hire bicycles and ride along the Camel Trail. Whatever you prefer to spend your days in Cornwall doing, The Wrens provides the perfect bolthole.

The seaside village of Polzeath boasts a sandy beach, which is bordered by rock pools and is acclaimed to be one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Polzeath itself has a number of small shops, cafes and restaurants, and the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile route, runs through the village. Just over seven miles away is the popular market town of Wadebridge, which is set alongside the River Camel and offers an array of shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as North Cornwall's only family-owned cinema. There’s wonderful countryside in the area, with the renowned Camel Trail passing through the town, and the nearby town of Padstow, with its harbour, pastel-washed medieval houses and celebrated restaurants is well worth exploring. Within driving distance is the UK surfing capital of Newquay, with over 11 miles of golden sandy beaches. Polzeath is an excellent base for exploring this part of Cornwall.

Great location but anyone with mobility issues will struggle with steps, unfortunately at night the lights on steps don’t work. Comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and new carpets. Blinds in living room and TV in master bedroom didn’t work, but neither concerned us. Overall a great place to stay. Sky sport a bonus. We most definitely would use again.

Great location in terms of beach access. The kitchen had very fancy over complicated appliances for a holiday let (coffee machine, steam oven which I doubt anyone uses) but the actual oven was of very poor quality. It takes hours to cook anything. The kitchen also needs some additional small sharp knives. It currently has 2 but 1 of these was broken and therefore quite dangerous. There is no garlic press. The batteries in the remote controllers were dead so we had to buy our own. The overhead lights in the twin beds don’t work. They have multiple spot lights out around the house. We lost all our hot water however JB came out very quickly to sort. The following day, all the downstairs lights went out and again JB came out to sort but this was after a stern phone call. It would just seem this property is quite neglected and we wouldn’t rent again.

However there were a couple of things worth noting: In the 2nd twin bedroom the mattresses do not fit the beds - they hang over the edge by about 20cm. I tried to adjust this myself but could not. The shower in the master bathrooms' waste was not properly fixed and needs replacing. The laundry room was stuffed with lots of item and although totally usable was not very attractive to use, with a few shelves this could be made a really decent space, it just felt very messy. I would also say that the understairs cupboard was messily organise and could easily be left much more attractive. I hope this is helpful and constructive feedback as our overall feeling for the house was that it was a great family space.
