Reading previous reviews I am pleased to say we had no issues at all with the hot water and everything worked perfectly. The welcome treats left for us were a lovely surprise. If being picky we would have preferred thinner quilts as the apartment is warm (especially this time of year) and bath sheets rather than towels. We would certainly book this accommodation again if it was closer to the beach/town as the walk back is uphill, however taxis are only just over £5 or there is a bus service.

There are 2 spacious balconies from bedroom and lounge which catch the sun in the morning. We chose this apartment as it has a personnel parking space within a gated car park in front of property. To our horror when we arrived 6 of the 12 spaces were being used by builders and our was already full. We contacted the agency who had no idea of the builders and could only offer a space in the road in a residential road. We did not want this as we had paid for this space and had no intention of moving the car all week as my husband drives for a living and he needed the rest. eventually someone left and we parked in their space. When the were anxious all weekend. From our balcony we could see 3 temporary huts, an office, a canteen and a toilet. On Monday morning we were able to move the car to our space so that was 1 worry gone but to our horror we then had no hot water. We phoned again and they said they would get back to us. We had cold showers and went out. When we returned at 4.30 we still hadn't had a call but the water was hot and someone had been in the apartment. They eventually phoned and said it had been a problem with the whole building even though we had spoken to the other residents and they had not had a problem. 8.15 Tuesday the builders started to erect scaffolding against the building. 8.45 Wednesday i opened our bedroom curtains to be faced with 3 men in high viz and hard hats only 3 feet away. I was so upset i asked my husband if we could go home. We were completely blocked in . We couldn't open our curtains or use either balcony. We telephoned again and after some explaining the manager said he would phone the owners and get straight back to us. At 12.15 he phoned and said he had visited the property and was shocked at what he saw. We were offered a part refund. Although this a small step to helping it does not get back our weeks holiday which was totally spoilt. We tried to enjoy the last day and a half but had to eat inside with the curtains pulled and doors shut because of the noise. We have 1 holiday a year and we have come home tired and disappointed. We feel it has been a breach of contract offering something which is not there. We are taking advice. Feel so let down.

However.....the hot water system is in dire need of urgent upgrades..unless you like cold showers. It was temporarily fixed for 2 days then went back to boiling hot or cold,l (particularly in the evening). it has a mind of its own. We found come the evening that there was limited hot water, which caused further challenges as a family - due to our daughter who has autism, really struggled with not being able to shower after having been in the sea. This resulted in us not going in the sea again in case there was no hot water later on. Our neighbours noticed our problem and offered their shower as they apparantly didnt have issues with their hot water, however, instead we ended up using the sports centre to shower in on one occasion instead as felt wrong using their shower. We were aware that although not all apartments were affected, some others were too and also complained. After a discussion with Carbis Bay holidays, they said this was not the only time this had happened and that work is needed on the system urgently as has been the case I believe for sometime. He also said that if the engineer couldnt fix the problem, we would need to be moved to another property. Due to our daughter's Autism it would have been very difficult to have had to move halfway through a holiday as change is hard for her. We knew that if the engineer couldn't fix it we may have needed to consider going home, so we ended up compromising somehow with having short showers in the day and not going in the sea. Our upset is due to the affects this had on us as a family with a daughter who has needs. It wasn't a cheap holiday so you would expect a basic requirement such as hot water to be available. If someone had informed us there was a risk of an unpredictable hot water system, we would have gone elsewhere. Our other comment to add is the issues we had due to sound from the people above apartment 6. It was incredible. You could hear their every movement unless they were asleep or out. It sounded like constant stomping about and really noticeably - the movement of furniture from around 7pm onwards until late at night and again from early morning. We never saw the family there but just couldn't understand why people need to constantly move furniture about? You could also hear them talking at night whilst we were trying to sleep. We have been on holidays within apartments many times before and I know you can't control what sound others are making, however, surely properties should be sound proofed enough to withstand the sound of movement above? This, together with the shower issues really affected our experience - and it was our only holiday of the year. A comment that might be helpful for the owners- it would have been great to have had sumer duvets available for all beds and not just the single beds. It's quite a warm property in itself. Overall the apartment is very convenient for town and the beach and in a quiet location. I really do hope the water system can be sorted to prevent others from being affected.
