About this property

Enjoying elevated views over St Ives, at Tate Reach, within the Barnoon area, this two-bedroom, first floor apartment, enjoys far reaching sea and harbour views, from most rooms, close to the town centre, Tate St Ives, scenic railway, and the stunning Porthmeor Beach.

Perfect for the whole family to escape to the coast this pet friendly home, sleeps four, plus and infant and welcomes a medium size dog.

Set on the first floor of this Victorian house, this apartment has been lovingly restored in keeping with its original features, with cast iron vintage radiators, high ceilings, Victorian feature fireplace and a picture bay window, with a breath-taking view of St Ives, the harbour and bay, which flow throughout a spacious open plan sitting and dining area, which is flooded with natural light, through the windows, making it bright and airy, styled with lovely period pieces of furniture and two cream leather sofas comfortably seating five, sit back and soak up the views or enjoy the entertainment on the 37” television and DVD player and Sky.

A vintage dining table, with seating for four, has been perfectly positioned within the living area bay window, offering guests a fabulous view whilst dining, for a little romance, the table can be unfolded just for two.

The contemporary kitchen is conveniently located near the rear terrace for dining alfresco, double French doors open out onto the outside decking, inside its well-appointed with oak units, sleek black granite effect work tops and a washer/dryer, everything you need for your holiday.

There is a choice of two sea view bedrooms both benefiting from en-suites, the master king sized has a wonderful P-shaped whirlpool bath and a large bay window with views of the island and out to sea, from the comfort of your bed, the twin room enjoys views across Porthmeor beach, via a large window, and an enclosed shower, each is well presented with sumptuously dressed beds and plenty of storage space.

The rear terrace, accessed via the kitchen double French doors, enjoys sun most of the day, three steps lead down to a large enclosed decked area, a table and four chairs are provided, ideal for alfresco dining, or to enjoy a book in tranquillity, or letting the dog play, a retractable washing line is useful for drying wet beach gear.

The closet beach Porthmeor is simply stunning with a long stretch of golden sand, like most larger beaches in St Ives, and has been awarded a blue flag for its crystal clear waters, wonderful for catching a wave, with a surf school and seasonal lifeguard service, if you fancy dining out right on the beach then the beachside café is idyllic or try the Michelin Plate Porthminster Beach Café, on another of the towns fabulous stretches of sand, there is also a plethora of cafes and restaurants showcasing fresh sea food and local produce dotted around the pretty harbour, after a delightful meal browse for a gift amongst the boutiques and galleries on its cobbled streets, a visit to the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, which is on your doorstep, will let you see how the town has inspired so many famous artists.

As many of St Ives larger beaches are award winning, they have pet restrictions at times, so venture out with your dog along the South West Coast Path towards Porthkidney Beach, its pet friendly all year, with a long stretch of golden sand, a great tip is to catch the scenic railway for your return journey, not only is it relaxing, but exhilarating, as it connects the surrounding area, running beside the beaches with sea views all the way.

The kids will love the rides at Flambards in Helston, or Camel Creek Adventure Park, near Wadebridge or feeding the animals at Paradise Park near Hayle, enjoy a selfie at the iconic sign post at Land’s End or a show at the nearby open air theatre, the Minack, dramatically set on the edge of a Cornish cliff, or walking out to the majestic castle at low tide, set on its own island, St Michaels Mount, near Penzance, or head to the rugged North Coast to Tintagel Castle, associated with myths and legends, it’s where King Arthur was conceived with the help of Merlin, or so the story goes, finally don’t miss your chance to walk above the trees of the Eden Project’s tropical rainforest, near St Austell.

James Whistler, which this holiday home is named after, was a famous American artist inspired by the beauty of St Ives in 1884, he loved it so much he made it his home, we think you’ll soon discover why and fall in love with St Ives too.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!
