About this property

Resting in the heart of the idyllic coastal village of Carbis Bay in Cornwall is the eco-friendly Moorside. This fabulous, single-storey, Danish inspired eco-home repurposed from a 1930's

chalet. Sustainably built which benefits from an unbeatable location close to the breath-taking Cornish coast, a contemporary and stylish, open-plan interior, three sumptuous bedrooms and a fully enclosed and private garden with hot tub; the perfect setting for families or friends seeking a sustainable retreat in Carbis Bay. After a day by the sea, cross the threshold into your new home-from-home to find an open-plan living space where you can unwind on the plush sofas in front of the 75" Smart TV and watch on as the designated chef of the group cooks up a storm in the fully-equipped kitchen. Sample their culinary delights at the dining take or step outside to take advantage of the spacious garden with table and chairs on the decking, ideally suited to an alfresco affair. Later, indulge in a soothing soak in the hot tub which benefits from being undercover so you can bask in its warmth whatever the weather, similarly there is also a covered summerhouse where you can enjoy evening drinks and the great outdoors at any time of year. When stars appear overhead, travel back inside to freshen up in the sleek wet room ahead of catching your rest in one of three bedrooms; choose from a four-poster king-size with Smart TV and en-suite shower room, a king-size (zip/link) with Smart TV or a double. During the day explore the centre of Carbis Bay where you can pick up your essentials at local stores, enjoy a meal out at The Cornish Arms or experience the beauty of the coast with a trip to the breath-taking Carbis Bay Beach. While away sunny days upon its golden shores, paddle in the azure, or try something more adventurous with water sports like kayaking and paddle boarding. Alternatively, enjoy leisurely walks along the coastal path and breathe in the refreshing sea air; follow the path to the iconic harbour town of St Ives where you can tour the Tate, the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden or amble around the harbour. The path continues to the Penwith Heritage Coast and meanders through a myriad of charming coastal villages offering hidden gems. Experience all this and more from the eco-home Moorside.

The beachfront community of Carbis Bay, which is only a short drive from famous St. Ives, is well-known for its stunning stretch of fine, white sand. The beach feels almost subtropical with its turquoise seas and protected surroundings, making it the ideal location for a traditional day by the sea. If sunbathing is not really your thing, why not rent a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP) and venture out on the water instead? The Ocean Sports Centre is located on the beach. Or why not treat yourself to a spa day at the charming hotel that has a gorgeous patio where you can sip cocktails while enjoying the Cornish sunlight and views out onto the beach? Together with a takeout serving fish and chips and a railway branch line, Carbis Bay features a limited selection of neighbourhood stores and eateries. One of the most picturesque train rides in the nation takes passengers from Carbis Bay to St. Ives; St. Ives itself is a wonderful day trip destination with a variety of art galleries to see. There are family-friendly activities nearby, including golf and a wildlife sanctuary, in the quayside town of Hayle. Easily accessible from Carbis Bay, the Godrevy Natural Reserve and Penwith Heritage Coast offer even more opportunities for outdoor and watersports enthusiasts to engage in activities like coasteering and birdwatching. For anyone looking to enjoy Cornwall's stunning coastline, Carbis Bay is undoubtedly a fantastic holiday destination.

Lovely, well furnished property perfect for what we wanted. Hot tub is a fab addition. Garden is perfect for little ones to potter round in. We booked a travel for and high chair, both of which were ready and waiting for us when we arrived. Lovely touch of a welcome basket too. Did contact owners regarding one issue which was very quickly rectified. Walkable to Carbis Bay beach and a lovely restaurant - the Gannett. 5 min drive to St. Ives. Great spot and would definitely look to stay again if in Cornwall. Thanks so much!

Beds excellent, bed linen and towels were very good quality. Hot tub and beach house a real bonus. Well equipped kitchen however, a few more dinner plates would be helpful as there were only seven. If they were used at breakfast and/or lunch, there were not enough for dinner in the evening. Our biggest disappointment was the lack of hot water. Coming back from the beach with two toddlers, we needed to give them a hot shower. Hot water was not plentiful, the tank was small and set to only heat up twice a day. I contacted Sykes on the Sunday and was given some very helpful advice from Conor. He told me that this issue had been mentioned before in previous feedback. The owners were contacted and we were told how to boost the hot water. This rectified the problem to a certain extent. The floor of the wet room became very slippery after use. My daughter is 10 months pregnant and I have just had a total hip replacement; the floor was far too slippery for us to navigate. Using the other toilet in the en suite bedroom is an option during the day but not once people had gone to bed. A rigid squeeji mop would help to move the water to the drain. Alternatively, a rubber mat would have helped. My grand daughter, who is only two, slipped and had a nasty bang in her head. A long handled broom/ dustpan and brush would also be helpful. In summary, we had a really lovely holiday. Would certainly use Sykes company again.
