About this property

Situated in the heart of the popular seaside harbour town of Port Isaac in Cornwall is Mermaid Cottage, a lovingly restored, three-bedroom fisherman’s cottage. Ideally furnished and located, for a family holiday or a break amongst friends, this stylish property has it all from contemporary furnishings to toasty woodburning stoves, not to forget the distant views of the harbour. Step inside to find a snug with a traditional woodburning stove to cosy up in front of after a day of walking, while a sitting room with a sleek stove offers a space to unwind in front of the TV. From here, make your way to the well-equipped kitchen where you can whip up delicious dinners for your loved ones to enjoy at the dining table for six while catching up over the day’s adventures. When sleep calls, three neat bedrooms invite you to rest; the master, a king-size, has plenty of storage, while the double and the bunk are home to plush beds, perfect for catching your rest. In the morning, enjoy your favourite cuppa in the garden, which is enclosed with a picnic bench, making a lovely spot to admire your surroundings. Just a short walk away, Port Isaac has plenty to keep you entertained including quaint shops selling local produce and gifts, cafes serving Cornish cream teas, and pubs and restaurants serving delicious local seafood. There are some great walks along the coast, including one to Port Quin, which is home to Doyden Castle, which was used in Poldark and is now owned by the National Trust. Follow the coast north to Tintagel, where you can explore Tintagel Castle, which is steeped in myth and legend and is famously associated with King Artur and Merlin. For a charming walk, explore Pencarrow House & Gardens, while a more thrilling day out can be found at Camel Creek Family Theme Park. Further afield, enjoy the sandy shores of Newquay with a picnic and ice cream at Fistral Beach followed by a fun-filled round at Pirate's Quest Adventure Golf. Make memories with loved ones at Mermaid Cottage.

Port Isaac is a true Cornish treasure. The old village in the valley, a beautiful fishing village nestled in a steep sided valley, has remained unchanged since its days of fishing, slate export, and smuggling in the previous century. There are numerous small character properties, as well as larger cliff-top retreats, with easy access to the village's numerous restaurants and shops. As the tide recedes, the sandy harbour provides an abundance of rock pools. There is plenty of parking at the top of the village, and it is a popular tourist destination with many attractions such as the dramatic Doyden Castle, the beautiful Lundy Bay, and the famous Doc Martin's clinic.

Everything there you could need for an enjoyable stay . Fab shower room , comfy beds , and lovely modern kitchen , great views from the master bedroom. I would warn anyone with mobility problems that the walk down into the village is extremely steep down Rose hill but does only take 5mins to get there . An added extra it has secure car parking very close by . I would definitely recommend staying at this cottage .

So pleased to have found it! There are a couple of things we felt were missing; In the master bedroom there wasn’t anywhere to hang clothes… we only needed a small space for 3/4 hangers plus the addition of a chair or small table would have been handy close to the mirror. For such a lovely house, a picnic table is less than comfortable for whiling away a sunny evening! Really felt this could do with an upgrade. Some serving dishes would also have been of great use as only plastic available for serving hot food. Overall the cottage has been beautifully renovated, it’s comfortable, the lighting is perfect (which is often something overlooked), the beds are lovely, and the addition of a car park space is a godsend in Port Isaac. We would most certainly stay again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends and family.
