Clematis House is a beautiful detached listed home tucked away in the historic Cornish town of St Columb Major, perfectly placed for exploring the north Cornwall coast.
Full of character, original features and relaxed coastal charm, the house combines colourful interiors with generous family spaces, creating a warm and memorable base for holidays with family or friends.
At the heart of the house is a bright, fully equipped kitchen and dining space designed for long breakfasts, relaxed suppers and evenings gathered together after days at the beach. There are several inviting living spaces throughout the house, including a cosy sitting room with a woodburning stove, a snug for quieter moments and a dining room complete with piano.
The four individually styled bedrooms are full of personality and comfort, with two elegant doubles and two spacious family rooms, each with a double and single bed. Three bedrooms are en-suite, while the fourth has its own dedicated bathroom.
Outside, the enclosed garden is perfect for slower mornings, summer drinks and unwinding after coastal walks or beach days.
St Columb Major itself is one of those increasingly rare Cornish towns that still feels wonderfully local, with bakeries, pubs, small shops and everyday life quietly carrying on around you. Mawgan Porth, Watergate Bay, Padstow and the Camel Trail are all within easy reach, making Clematis House a wonderful base for experiencing this part of Cornwall.

Thankyou

The only very minor feedback gripes we have is that there were just two firefighters, three dishwasher tablets, an empty bottle of washing up liquid, and several empty or missing liquid soap bottles in the bathrooms, all of which meant a trip to the local shop. The downstairs central heating radiators didnât seem to be working very well and as a previous reviewer mentioned it would be useful to have better instructions about the house on arrival. None of these points really detracted from our stay, however, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

It is spacious, well thought out and we especially loved all the unusual details; decor, circus room / snug - brilliant idea. Really well equipped, comfortable and scrupulously clean. The location is brilliant too. Very short walking distance to the local pub and shop. Location wise is is also ideal easy access to the A30, close to popular beaches. We visited Padstow, Porthleven, Falmouth and Lands End which all within easy reach. Loved it!!
