About this property

This reverse-level annexe is situated in the pretty village of St Day, an area that was once known as the richest square mile in the world due to the famous copper mines. Set back from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this cosy getaway is well-equipped for families or couples looking to explore this fine part of Cornwall. Upstairs is comprised of a bright and airy open plan living area, an attractive social space with the addition of a Juliette balcony which overlooks the surrounding fields. The well-fitted kitchen is where you can prepare delicious meals to be enjoyed at the dining table, before sinking into the sofa and catching up on your favourite TV shows. Head downstairs to find two bedrooms, a double and twin, both benefitting from wall-mounted TVs and ample storage for personal belongings. The double bedroom leads to a conservatory with doors to the patio and garden. The bathroom with bath and walk-in shower means you can enjoy a soothing soak at end of your evening or wake up to a refreshing shower in the morning. Rounding off the interior of this St Day cottage is a utility room with a washer dryer and dishwasher (both of which are operated by a £1 electricity meter). Outside is perfect for relaxing and enjoying alfresco dining, with a choice of table and chairs from the patio area, and a lawned garden for family games. The village of St Day offers a convenience store and two pubs serving food, ideal if you fancy an evening off cooking. Just a short drive away is Porthtowan’s Blue Flag beach, backed by large sand dunes and dramatic cliffs, as well as being considered as one of Cornwall’s most popular surfing spots. While here, walk along the coastal path over the cliffs heading east to St Agnes and admire the coastal views. Fern Cottage is a great base in a convenient touring location and available all year round.

Once known as the centre of mining in Cornwall due to the rich copper mines, the village of St Day has become a peaceful spot for visitors. The village now has two pubs and a convenience store, plus a Gothic-style church dating back to the 1800s. Nearby is the seaside village of Portreath which is popular for its dramatic coastline and golden beach. Further afield, the city of Truro is worth visiting, with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre and excellent choice of restaurants.
